Hhmm... Well, if they ddin't make another season(serious season) I would understand, and I'd be fine with it. But they damn well better not make a Fummofu second season, it was a cool series, but two would overdue it(second to last episode was better than final in my opinion, but last was kinda good, and odd, with the infirmary thing, not only did he not seem interested at all, still reading, but that was completely out of character for him).
Ah well, if they didn't make another season I'd be fine with that, but I would love a new season. I don't know what everyone is talking about, I think theres plenty of places to go, relationship wise with the diferent characters, and storyline wise(involving whispered and lambda driver, he barely beat gauln last episode and without the lambda, so it can go somewhere, new technologies nad AS are completely possible). Nothing says that they can't introduce new characters either! Maybe another sub, maybe a better sub, maybe a battlegroup instead of a single sub, maybe mithril takes diferent jobs.
Maybe some more students, or maybe some type of graduation to another lvl within the school(like from sophmore to junior, I don't know japenese school systems). Maybe an enemy whispered, maybe a merc whispered. Maybe some new diferent AS along with new mercs are hired to help, maybe another person is added to Sousoke's entrouge, maybe a new threat to kaname. Sorry, I can think of a bunch of more paths to go, but just because they didn't go very indepth doesn't mean they have to stay that way, or that there isn't more to go.
But you all have very good points, there are some points it can't pass, and they would have to try to get a plot going agian(unless they have more extremely ingenius ideas to progress, maybe they will suprise us). Like I said, the ending was good enough and I liked it, but if there was another season I sure as hell would love it and watch it(as long as they didn';t totally screw it up).

While your points are certainly valid, I don't believe that your assumption that a third season would be a waste is correct. While in a show like Neon Genesis Evangelion plot ambiguity might be a good thing, NGE differs from FMP in many ways. NGE hints at a way deeper plot than the viewers can see on their first, second, even third time; however it gives you clues each time you watch it so you can figure out the bigger picture. FMP kinda leads you to a fork in the road.

While FMP certainly does conclude the action element of the series well, I personally think the romance element was not well concluded at all. I mean for pete sakes, "fishing" at the end? I was at least expecting the last two minutes of episode 24 to be something that would bring tears to my eyes, like Kaname and Sagara kissing or something, but I knew it couldn't happen because the series had not done enough to build up this element of the show. It's certainly not AD Visions fault, for the plot was complex enough without the relationship element, however I do indeed think that this blank alone necessitates the need for a third series.

Fumoffu (or fummofu, I've seen it spelled both ways), in my opinion, was supposed to accomplish this but it didn't. Fumoffu is more of a Love Hina type of anime, drastically different from the FMP we saw in the first season. I thought that the 15 episodes of this, despite having no relevance to the original, would bring a satisfactory conclusion to the love relationship between Kaname and Sagara. And after episode 8 I truly thought that this would be the case; however the last 7 episodes disappointed me, and once again I'm left wanting for more.

Kaname and Sagara are definitely a match made in heaven, however ADV hasn't illustrated this. Sure the cute spots, like when Kaname is waiting for Sagara in the original or when she's riding on the bike with him in Fumoffu are good, however it's not enough. I WANT A THIRD SERIES.

Getting Kaname so dramatically into the Infirmary, naked no less, wasn't
enough for you :-P

...the boys over in the Tessa + Sousuke camp may disagree with this, but... :-D

Sorry this is short, but must run. Be back later...

T_T I wanted a relationship; If I wanted Kaname naked in the infirmary...(opens Kazaa) but I don't :D (well I lie) Anyways still though, in serious terms, it wasn't enough. And I read the post on whether or not Sagara should be with Kaname or Tessa; and it's definitly Kaname, no question. I mean the most compelling thing would be Sagara asks Kaname on a leisurely date (to his fishing spot), does he invite Tessa? No. Despite the fact that they're only able to spend the last 30 minutes there, the intention was revealed.

...I remember the (endless) debate over Tessa or Kaname, and quite
frankly, I don't think anyone's ever come to Tessa's defence on her
suitability for Sousuke -- ppl either point to her 'scheming ways,' or
the practical matter than officers + enlisted personnel just doesn't happen,
even in real life. Personally, I thnk it'd be interesting if someone were
to take a look at that, but...

As for what Fumoffu (didn't) accomplish, well... depends on how you
look at it. FMP! was popular, fans wanted more, so we got Fumoffu,
but alot of us felt shorted in terms of char devel, etc. I'll say this:
for what it was short in, we got to laugh alot at Sousuke's human side
(for lack of a better term), and Kaname got alot of screen time with him...

Bottom line, keep wishing for a S3, but don't hold your breath.

// joins the line over there of ppl chanting S3, S3, S3, S3, S3, S3....

I thought the ending to FMP?F episode 14 was more of an ending more than FMP?F 15. Anyoen else think so?
And like I said, they still could have plenty of ways to go, especially romantically with more than just sagara(though theres not many others, but adding some characters wouldn't be bad, also for a little relief from just those two, kinda like Miroku+Sango in Inuyasha). I think a Season 3 would be well worth it if they thought it through well. Besides, while the action element involving Gauln in FMP is over, that doesn't mean they can't have more, or go more in-depth, or have a new enemy. I'm not shooting anyone down or anything like that I just want to point out that it wouldn't be frivolous. Then again, like I said, I wouldn't mind if they stopped, but I'd like a new season very much.

Welcome to tbe boards Xaros. Kindly report yourself to the nearest
senior member for (pardon the pun) dismemberment

Re: S3 An interesting rule of thumb I ran across regarding sequels to anime
series is if no announcement is made within a year of the series' end,
then don't even think about holding your breath
However, roughly one year seems to be the make or break point. On average, anime series in Japan that don't have new animation announced within a year of the conclusion of the immediately prior series rarely ever get new animation. In most cases, considering how much anime as is released in Japan, after more than a year, most anime titles have dropped off the radar for average Japanese viewers and are no longer popular enough to support new animation.

...if 1) I could even get them here in the bookstores, and 2) if they were
ever translated into English, or I've got a VERY long stretch ahead of me
to learn to read Kanji

Do you have a link for what you read about a third series (prefer in english, but any could possibly be of use).

Personally I don't put any stock into such a rumor or news that is sent by word-of-mouth. I don't believe anything until I see either an official press release, an official comment or statement made by someone directly connected to the production, or some sort of official promotional piece that has no clear purpose (ie, it's not an ad piece pushing the rest of the Fumo dvds, ect).

Even when word-of-mouth news is somewhat accurate, it's still normally based on 'iffy' stuff that even the production people involved aren't sure about yet (like a release period).

ANd if you're gonna order the novels just for the illustrations- know that the images in the novels gallery on the FM*P! site are *all* of the illustrations you get with them :)

Welcome, and don't worry about your english. Not even the native english speakers are exactly stellar users ;)
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

Checked out the link you provided Xaros, and AFAIC, I'll wait for something

legs as it gets passed around.

...2005, huh? I have nothing to do till then :-P
