Not really, TT

While the characters have similar backgrounds, the series tone is way different.

Gundam Wing takes it self too seroiusly, while FMP can be hilaroius. I get the feeling that Souske changing and is willing to accept someone else in his life ,while Hiro feels that nobody else can stand his burden.

IMHO of course.
".... that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain..."

exerpt from Abe Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

I'm going off the dub, but Dr J explained in the TV series Heero's been
trained from childhood in combat and mecha tactics *ring any bells ppl?*
In Endless Waltz, Heero's shown to have a split-personality: on one hand,
he finds joy running and playing in a field of flowers, the next he mercilessly
blows up his intended target. My interpretation of that scene and what
follows is Heero's ALWAYS known his purpose is to kill without compunction,
but while his controllers have sought to bury his emotions, he still has
them in very rare moments...

Actually in Endless, Waltz Heero seems to change a bit too... for
the better. Though he has the chance to get close(r) to Relena in that final
moment of tenderness   in the end, he's content to watch
and protect her from the shadows. MORON!!

...for sure though, Relena doesn't hold a candle to Kaname in ANY category.

On a good day, a Tomahawk can fly into the door of a two-car garage at the distance of several hundred miles. And that can ruin your whole day.

Relena don't hold a candle to Tessa either... Heero shoulda either
gotten a room with her or turned her into a red smear with his Gundam ep 6

No. It isn't.

Obviously, Relena is a terrible character because she isn't as good as Tessa-samakawaiidesu or Kaname-chanwasugoi! Oh my God!

...really now, there are plenty of other reasons to hate a lame character.
