Well, if you ever obtain his permission, we'd appreciate a chance to

@All
1024x768's a pretty standard rez to start with wallpapers, but like
Tau I personally prefer 1280x1024 if I can. And yeah, sourcing
material from DVDs doesn't quite cut it as the video's only 720x480
by default (that BEFORE aspect ratio corrections, PAL/NTSC, etc...)

On a good day, a Tomahawk can fly into the door of a two-car garage at the distance of several hundred miles. And that can ruin your whole day.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

I think how well things scale is dependant on the source material--the de Danaan is very detailed and 3D... it would lose the details when blown up, or would turn pixelated and ugly.

On the other hand, shows that are less "detailed" like Chrno Crusade could blow up better. The colors tend to be more solid, and the atmosphere tends to be foggy.

I think it also depends on the one doing the image editing--I know it wouldn't have looked good if I did the editting work since I barely know how to get around in Photoshop. My boyfriend, being a computer graphics student, knows how to get Photoshop to work with him, not against him, unlike me.

But this is getting off topic, methinks. But here's an idea... "cut" the de Danaan out of a shot, don't enlarge it (there should be plenty of full frame shots of it), put it on top of a solid background (or play with Photoshop...), and maybe add a cut out shot of Tessa and anyone else that strikes your fancy.

Yep, here it is. http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~sbanker/chrnoBG.jpg

Looking at it now, I think we changed the contrast too much--the colors are too dark.

The screenshot was captured from a fansub using Adobe After Effects. (Yeah, Premiere would have been better. It's like he used PowerPoint to make graphs, instead of Excel. :))

Next, the image was resized and cleaned up in Photoshop. The main cleaning up was to remove the artifacts from his braid (to quote my bf) and eliminate the snow from the frame, as it was horizontal lines, not a solid white. He also changed the contrast. He may have done some other things--he's the Photoshop whiz. I can barely resize an image. ;)

...looks pretty decent there, Samantha! Unless you saw that particular
ep he grabbed the frame from, you'd almost swear it was a
turned-out-less-than-perfect-scan.

(then again these days, my nit-picking image artifacts ability has gone out the window) :-P
