Hi everybody! My name is Amikit. I visited this forum for a long time, but this is the first time I actually posted thing on this forum. Anyway, I read on this forum that a lot of people wanted to read the FMP! Novels or english translations of them. Well, your prayers have been granted.
It just so happens that there is a scanlation group that I often download from called Boku-Tachi is currently translating the FMP! Novels into english. However, they are starting from Volume 8, where it picks up where the story of first season left off.
Chapter 1 and parts of 2 of Vol 8 are currently available. The translations are in PDF format, so you need to Adobe Acrobat to read them. The translation reads like a book and it includes illustrations from the novel. You can download Chapter 1 Part A from their website, but you need to download the other chapters from their IRC channel.

Second, while appreciated you shared this info with us, pls refer to the forum policy on sharing files, etc. We don't mind if you keep it in PMs,
but we're alittle iffy on public sharing of stuff like this.
As to the fan-lation itself, I like the fact they're putting in the time to do it
and hope more'll come out in the future.
I've got a question, more for Jae or Ruri. I read the first section of the fanlation, and noticed that the sentance structure is relatively simple, with fewer descriptive details than English novels. Is this due to how it's being translated, or is it more due to Gatoh-san's writing style, or typical Japanese fiction norms?
The only "contemporary" Japanese fiction translation I've read is a short story called "Triceratops" from a world anthology of science fiction. Interesting that apparently Japanese writing tends to be more setting the scene than the action itself. At least that's what I vaguely remember from the story preface.
How much fiction is translated from Japanese to English? I know it commonly goes the other way, as there's a line of science fiction books translated from English. I believe Lois McMaster Bujold's works are part of the line. Yep, I'm right-- http://www.dendarii.com/translations.html#Japanese She writes really good science fiction novels, if you like that thing. Some of the best military SF I've read, and I tend to avoid it. Miles is just too hilarious for words.

they give you forrest ... walking mary ... wolf ... kills ...
and you have to read it ....
In a dark and wondeful mysterious forrest, our lovely stunning looking mary was walking around untill she was killed by that evil big bad wolf ...

Alot of the info is let out because they assume it should have been made clear by the context.
Why do you think that a japanese manual only has one page and the english counterpart has 10 pages. (it's not only the use of kanji)

The only Japanese literature I've read beyond Battle Royale (can that even be considered literature?) and Musashi are Haruki Murakami's books. I don't know if it's his writing style or adaptions or both but in translation, his stuff feels very Western. Then again, most of his books have characters who listen to the Beatles and Dylan...
But, uh, yeah, if you're in the mood for existential, semi-suicidal people who get caught up in the supernatural forces that rule our minds and souls and also like classic rock, check out Haruki Murakami.
Anyway... Yeah. Could be the translation or could be the writing style. No idea.

I just downloaded Boku-Tachi's novel translations too and I must say it's great stuff ^_^. I've been reading this forum for a while and registered an account just to post about this, but looks like you beat me by a few weeks...
I put the link back to the translator's site in the first post.
It is iffy, but I think it's a worthwhile special exception link as an official english translation is still slim, and a volume 8 release would be a long time off if it were to ever happen.
I will probably include this link when I update the links for my website, so it seems silly to hide it here.
