Honestly, I'd much rather prefer the jap version.

Japanese any day of the week. I've been trying to pick some up here and there - anime is definately a great way to pick up the natural language!

It's always better in Japanese. Plus, you CANNOT replace Tomokazu Seki. EVER. EVER EVER EVER EVER.

tippy is on the wrong coast and won't get to meet him at anime expo....... dammit.. anyone wanna get me an autograph?

Note: When Series are dubbed some of the sounds effects are removed

though I haven't seen the Dubbed version of FMP
I Prefer Subbed with japanese voices
This is so cool... Ive been an anime fan so long and seen so much that I almost understand what people are talking about all the time without reading..

This has been an iffy topic in the past. We'll see how this one goes, since it's been quite a while, so everybody play nice 8)
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

No.

He should stop voicing every male character ever and give someone else a chance.

He'll be at AX? Maybe now I can tell him myself. :D

I haven't heard the FMP English dubs. If they're good, I'd always like the option of hearing English over Japanese. I think Japanese is a really cool language, but I often eat while I'm watching anime and if I can look at my food instead of having to keep my eyes glued to the bottom of the screen to read the subtitles, that'd be nice.

Another thing is when there are many people speaking at once, some fansubbers do different colors on the bottom for the 2 different dialogs going on at once, or they might put the less important dialog on the top of the screen; either way, when that happens I get lost a bit and most of the time I'm too lazy to jump back to read the stuff I missed.

One thing that Japanese is always better is in fighting shounen series when some smartass gives a really long explaination of some fighting move. It's much less annoying to read it on the screen than to hear someone in English give the explaination in 1 long uninterupted line. ^_^

It all depends on the quality of course, and also, since most of the stuff I see are in Japanese, I'm already used to the Japanese versions. If the English cast sucks too much or the characters just sound too different, then I wouldn't be able to stand the English dub.

I like the English dubbing for Cowboy Bebop. It sounds very much like the Japanese.
Kenshin dubs were alright, though Kenshin's English voice sounds too different for me.
I didn't like Love Hina's dubs, Keitaro sounds like an even bigger dork and they gave Kitsune a southern accent.

I kinda agree with circle. If the English dubs are good, I wouldn't mind watching it but I guess sumtimes it does kill the ummm... 'feel' or atmosphere, doesn't it? :-D

I'll keep my stance simple--subs and dubs each have their plusses and minuses, and I will watch one or the other depending on circumstances. I'll watch dubs if I'm tired or trying to get my family to watch it. On the other hand, some dubs are just so bad, you can't watch them.

The DVD is the greatest boon to anime, with the ability to have multiple sound tracks and optional subtitles. No more deciding sub or dub, you can have your cake and eat it too.

I have to say, the FMP dub is quite good. When I encoded the episodes to use for my now abandoned AMV, I kept the English track, for ease of finding scenes and such. As a result, I mentally hear Chris Patton as Sousuke, for example.

In general, the ADV dubs of the major series like FMP, Noir, and RahXephon tend to be extremely well done. For example, in Noir, Hilary Haag did Chloe so well, it sounded like an English version of the original actress.

I perfer the English because to me the Japanese all speak in monotone. I've do like some of the voices, but generally when hearing Japanese, I can't tell thier emotional staus is. also, I just don't multitask well, so jumping over the screen to figure out what is happening gives my brain a workout it don't need. :-D
