I do recall picking up from somewhere (or mutiple somewheres) that K and G did have a mututal background, but I can't recall how I got that impression.

Until I know, it's totally unconfirmed in my book.... but... when K took off, G was sent after him? I mean, at least at different points in time they were working to the same purpose, and K came from Russia, while G works for them... former allies is plausible.

For some reason, I heard that Souske's parents and a bunch of other people in a village got killed. Then the survivors formed a group to go around doing stuff..

Hmm it doesn't sound right though

I think it was the early episode in the first arc when Kalinin is telling Tessa not to worry about Sousuke (saving Kaname). Kalinin tells her how he and Sousuke had once been enemies, and this is partly why Kalinin knows he is reliable.

I think that was also when we learn of that village- K explains to Tessa a bit about who Gauron is and why he's bad and why they are surprised he's alive. He explains they had been based in a village, but while all of the men were away, G and his men slaughtered the women and children. After that is when Sousuke shot G and thought he was dead.

There wasn't anything in that story about Sousuke's parents, and we learn in the Homeland arc that Sousuke had been on his own quite a bit before the village slaughter (before Kalinin Sousuke had been with Zaidou or whatever his name was).
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

There were two attacks.

The first one, chronologically, we learn about in the Homeland arc.
That is when the cave Sousuke was staying in with those men and that boy was attacked. Sousuke was away at the time, and had believed himself to be the only survivor. (he stuck white flags in the ground)

Later he hooks up with Kalinin. While he was with Kalinin, still fighting the russians, they were with (leading?) a group of local men, in their village.
While all the men were away, G killed everybody else. After this, K and S are determined to kill G, and S shoots him in the head.

This story is told in like... episode 4 or 5, to demonstrate how horrible a person Gaulun is, that he would kill innocents.
(there was a scene showing a woman, and I think child, laying face down on the ground in blood, I think)
