The only reason the US doesn't use it (at least, not regularly) is because the military has no need. BDUs and camo paint both fulfill the Good Enough principle.
That's true. The only way I can see as standard issue, is for Urban Warfare, because no kind of camo that US issues currently as standard can hide you in a city, because of the variety of colors and surfaces. Can't break your outline up when you've got a concrete pattern against a brick wall. That's where I see it being better than the current. Other environments don't have as much of an immediate need as UC.

Any environment which defies a definitivie color scheme could use ghost tech. However, when you're fighting in a city, there CAN be two things you didn't mention.
1) A lot of cities that are fought in are reduced so much by bombing, or are already 3rd world cities, so they already have a consistentish color scheme
2) In a lot of UC, you don't need camo, because the covor is better than just brush - ie, you can't see through gaps in the leaves of rubble.

Don't forget peoples, this is anime.

I doubt that the producers will flip through books about heliocopters to get info.

The pod on one looked like a Zuni rocket pod, only it Zunis are American.

Likely it's one of one rocket pods used on the E. Because the aircraft is shown at night/dusk it's most likely an E. D versions are primarily daytime choppers. E models have been upgraded for nighttime.

E: 2-4 - 80-mm S-8 rocket pods (20 ea.)

Or it could be an Air to Air missile, because the outer surface of the wings has the AA Missiles. But really if you look at the front of that Hind, it doesn't have the bublous avionics that you see near the cannons on any of the models recognized today.
