It's nice, very nice. But like you said, your scanner's pretty bad, so the image's a bit ermm... well, there's some noise effect...

Good work. :-D

Looks cool. It's like those "making of the character" kinda sketches authors include in their manga. I also like pen and pencil sketches too. Based on the subject of this thread I thought it was gonna be something ecchi ;).

Um, if you're looking for some criticism, I can't think of any really. The proportions look good, anime/manga style. :)

FANART!! NICE!! :-D

...ahh, I think we got too many ficwriters as it is, so it's nice to see some
visual stuff every now and then. I'd have to agree with Circle and the
comment it's like those rough pencil sketches the artists do.

Keep at it and see if things improve over time. If this is a first attempt,
I'd say you deserve a BIG kudos for even taking the plunge

it looks nice, would be great if you can create a clean version with more details and maybe a little color.
..
the arm needs a little work .. (elbow)

but then again this critique is comming from someone who only can draw stick figures (bad ones) ...
-

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

It's quite good! You've got the basic figure down very well. (Are you going to color it in for us?)

Your draw better than I do. :-D

Thank you! :D

No, it's not a first try at drawing manga/anime style but it's the second one I've actually bothered to finish.

Yes, it does need work. As I said, I drew it quickly without revising before scanning.

I don't think I can color it well, with all the "noise" everywhere. [I despise my scanner; it almost can't detect anything lighter than pencil.]

When I attempted to color my drawings in - I used the scanned in pencil drawing (which mine was really IFFY) as a bottom layer (I used Paint Shop Pro - cause I had it...) then added another layer and redrew the lines for it. (Simple tutorial for that technique in PSP at Bakaneko (go to tutorials - > line art w/ photoshop)
- Her work and tutorials were great helps. Her CD is worth buying. No affiliation - just a happy customer)

Then I colored in the sections and added shading, etc.

Hope that helps.

:? Yes, I know. That's the main thing I can't get right--their faces and hair. But remember fanart doesn't have to be a copy of the character. [Though I did mess up on her face.]

@ Avlor:

Do you mean another transparent layer to trace the original one onto? [Must learn how to do that. --_--; I'm bad at computer graphics.]

 I can never draw it well enough to be able to use a paint bucket tool and fill sections in with color or shade it like how animators do. [Sigh.] So if I do chose to color it, it will be disgustingly colored with my uncontrollable, clumsy digital pen thingy and maybe even messier than how it is now.

Thanks for the suggestions. :)

And did you mention "your drawings"...? :D

I can give you tips (that I found)...What program are you using? (i.e. for tracing/drawing outline to be able to use the paint bucket - zoom in alot... then you can be sure lines touch...)

Err yeah - I did one colored drawing I like - I may post it someday... But this is YOUR thread. ;)

Hmm

I haven't had a chance to play with either of those. ARGH... So all I can give at this point is general tips. (Sorry).

@All
Anybody else out there familiar with either of those progs? (I.e. will they do layers?)
