I still say it wasn't won by piloting but trickey which is WELL within Tessa's skill as a tactical genius.

Kurz Webber

Looks: Kurz Webber is an individual who does his best to look gorgeous but seems to be just very good looking. Still, girls seem to like him and he has that look that guys find very irritating. He also seems to work out a great deal.

Smarts: Kurz may act like a germanic beach boy and have no idea what to say to women but he's a talented AS pilot and seems to possess more than an average set of intelligence.

Personality: Kurz is a fun loving pretty boy in his outer exterior who definitely loves the ladies. Its wrong to dismiss him as a male blonde joke though as he's seriously concerned about girl's feelings even as his horomones still take control of him when they shouldn't.

Home Economics: Kurz isn't shown to be a good or bad cook. He might be spectacularly good and is eager to impress a girl so if he can, he definitetly will.

Fighting: Kurz is the best shot in Mirthil and a very capable AS pilot. He would have likely defeated Gauron in combat if not for the Lamdba driver thanks to his own tactical expertise (tricking him with the seemingly unloaded gun). His hand to hand combat doesn't appear to be very good as Mao comments but he is passable.

Special Abilities: The ability to inspire women to physical violence against him.

Competition: Kurz is either a tease (most likely) or a cheating blowhard (less likely). He's in Mirthil to pay for his girlfriend's medical bills (cancer? AIDS? Leukemia?) and it seems he hasn't left her memory behind or formally broken up with her. He doesn't mind making moves on other women but it is interesting its upon the women least likely to reciprocate (Mao, Tessa, Kaname). Quite possibly he's just having fun with the types of jokes he likes.

If she happens to die, dump him, recover you may have a chance but until then its unlikely.

Mao seems to have a feelings for him and he definitely enjoys the view with Tessa. If Tessa loses her crush on Sosuke, she is likely to transfer it to Kurz and she can be VERY manipulative (but in a kawaii way)

In laws: None known.

Economics: Kurz is probably the poorets of Mirthil's operatives because extensive medical bills are eating up his finances. As long as this is the case he's likely to just stick with Mirthil for the free food.

As long as he's paying for her, its kinda hard on you. If you're seeing him while he's doing it also...SHAME SHAME SHAME!

Sex: Most likely very not a virgin. He's the type of guy to be enthusiastic, want it alot, and be 'fun' about it (with all that it implies).

Overall: Not a bad guy but guilt competition which is practially impossible for a straight up guy like Kurz to put aside.

Looks: Ummmm as a matter of taste many guys prefer very LARGE...braids...and a very prominent set of...glasses. She also has a very nice....pair of dangling hairs. Pretty and perky in looks, she doesn't exactly have Teletha or Kaname looks

Smarts: A seemingly intelligent girl in the middle of her high school education. She has emotional intelligence enough to recognize Kaname has feelings for Sosuke even as she also seems to have the same problem with recognizing he should be locked up in a very deep cell that only Kaname realizes.

Doesn't seem as smart as Kaname though.

Personality: One area where she seems to excel.

"ONE AREA?!"

She has a very bouncy and personable personality that is likely to eagerly ingratiate. She has a bit of a photography fetish and you are likely to have thousands of pictures of your dating history.

Home Economics: No real displayed apptitude. Probably average.

Fighting: MOPPT is that she's actually a secret assassin for the KGB but given the complete ABSENSE of any evidence to support this, most likely no skill whatsoever.

Special Abilities: An astute eye, the anime guide says.

Competition: hmmmmm she'd make a good pair with Shinji Kazama (she'd take pictures of everything military he took her too and they'd share their love together) but nothing right now.

Open season.

In laws: Presumably a mother and father. She may have sisters or brothers who (unlike many anime characters) may actually take a vested intrest in her life or well being. Worse, she might actually listen to their input!

Kaname being the interfering busy-body that she is

...ow is likely to make some comment to Sosuke or directly TELL him to do something to you if you do something bad.

Economics: Being a high school student of seemingly middle class existence, you'd probably have to be the bread winner here. She'll probably become a photographer.

Sex: I dare say nothing here.

Overall: A very good choice for the unambitious or sane enough to realize that more enjoyable roads may be travelled with folk who enjoy cameras, softball, and hanging out with friends more than killing terrorists.

As you can guess, I expect some dissent on this one.

Sousuke:
Looks bishonen-type, with the requisite cross-shaped scar that has
time and time again melted the hearts of fangirls everywhere.

Smarts if it's military- or tactics-related, Sousuke's your man.
In normal life, he has the comprehension level of a rock: his time at Jindai
High have subject both people and property to minelaying, interrogation,
torture, boobytrapping, random personal searches, and all-round MASSIVE
collateral damages WELL in excess of any normal person or organization's
ability to cover.

Personality Underneath that layer of armor lies probably
a one-in-a-million chance of a human -- Kaname seemed to think so
shortly after her introduction to him. However, it's not by choice that
Sousuke is this way. Since childhood -- 8 years old, possibly younger --
Sousuke's been living by the rule(s) of the battlefield: kill or be killed.
To him, you're either a target or a threat. Whatever you do, DON'T
cross this guy.

If you must deal with him, you MUST be prepared to change your mode
of thinking and NOT say anything that can be (mis)construed as a threat
or militarily misinterpreted

Cooking Unknown. Probably high level of wilderness survival skills.
Home cook MAY come as alittle more elusive to him though.

Fighting Skills Second to none. Known to carry various legal
and not-so-legal firearms and explosives on his person, even on Tokyo.
Exellent AS piloting skills.

Special Abilities weapons; tactics; AS piloting; pissing off or
blowing up everyone he comes into contact with, or both

Competition Kaname -- as much as she would deny it, no doubt
Sousuke's won her heart completely with his earnest efforts to protect
her, even at great risk to his life and limb.

Tessa -- call it a schoolgirl crush, call it desperation. After the Behmoth
incident, she's declared her love for this military otaku, and isn't above
using her wiles or position to get a shot at him, morals and tsk-tsks aside.

Mithril / military -- Sousuke is military-bred through and through.
Expect a LONG and HARD trial getting it out of him, but even that
may be an exercise in fultility -- you can take the lion out of the jungle,
but you can't take the jungle out of the lion.

In-Laws non biologically, Major Kalinin is the closest to a father
Sousuke's had his entire life. His Mithril comrades (and Kaname?)
have become something of a surrogate family to him.

Economics considering the mercenary nature of Mithril, and
Sousuke's next-to-nonexistent spending habits it's reasonable
to assume he's pretty wealthy, relatively speaking. You may live in the lap
of luxury, but don't expect this man to be around much as he's globe-trotting
alot saving the world everyday.

Sex A fond pipedream, if that -- his idea of proper usage of a condom
is as an emergency 1litre watersupply. You MAY have some sucess if
you can related it to some aspect of a tactical basis -- the mouth advances
on enemy territory down here, while the hand(s) engage in flanking actions
-- but even THAT may be a stretch for some ppls' similes.

Overall Loyal as a puppy, but needs a MAJOR lifelong housebreaking
commitment, assuming everything around you within a 30block radius
isn't smoking ruin by the time you succeed... never mind the final
tally to your hourly psychiatry bills

As a note I want to say that I think Tessa is a lousy AS pilot. She could be good if she...I dunno...TRAINED FOR MONTHS. However, she's a lousy fighter all round.

I do believe however there is a difference between defeating an enemy through trickery and being a better pilot.

Darth Maul is a better fighter than Padawan Obi Wan Kenobi, Obi Wan beats him through a cheap shot.

Gauron I think we can all agree is HELL AND GONE a better pilot than Kurz but Kurz nearly beat him in North Korea using trickery.

It's not 'cheating' to beat Mao by playing dead after running away and maybe rigging the rocks to be unstable. It is however not a sign she's a good pilot, it is using good tactics and terrain to one's advantage.

And as Mao said in a REAL FIGHT they would have beaten her. I still think she's a good widdle tactican.

I liked what you wrote on Kurz and Melissa. We really don't know the condition of the girl though honestly or what kind of relationship they still have. Kurz may not have seen her in a year or more for all we know or she could be in a coma with no possibility of recovering

Also she might even be fictious or he's broken up with her but feels guilty (maybe in anime there's a tragic story like he's accidentally at fault for her condition)

I also have come to a theory, yes definitely it is not CHIDORI OR TESSA that Sosuke Sagara must come to love. There is only one women in the world who can take his savage and warlike heart to bring peace to his soul.

About the Kurz+Mao girlfriend topic--thanks.

You're right about Tessa hiding and planning with Sousuke and drawing that
plan with tactics. She's good at that kind of thing. But she still cheated. I also
consider rigging the rocks cheating too. But she wasn't the one who did
that. Kurz and Sousuke did that to help her. Basically, Tessa winning was a
large combination of factors--her tactical skills, Mao's hesitance to fight,
Sousuke and Kurz's interference, etc... Just wanted to get the point across
that she did, in fact, have some help.

Gauron

Looks: Gauron is definately a 'man's man.' Long hair, beefy, and covered in numerous scars across his body are his major trade marks. Gauron knows how to dress stylish but let's face it, a rhinosaurus in a 3000 dollar suit is still a rhinosaurus. You can dress him up however you like but he's still going to give the impression that he can kick the ass of every single person in the room. Still, many women (my girlfriend included) go gah gah over him.

Smarts: Gauron is amongst the most capable enemies you will find. The man is a 'self employed businessman' who can work with North Korea, the Soviet Union, Afghanistan, the Mafia, Amalgam, and his own private interests with incredible ease...giving him definitely a good knowledge of politics at least. He's able to make contact with Mirthil agents without having any difficult and can operate Black Technology of several different stripes including the Lamda driver. He seems to be an excellent tactician and intelligent fighter as well as a ferocious one.

It isn't going off the wall to suggest that Gauron is probably a genius even if his skill is using his toys rather than making them. His plot for destroying toybox was suicidal only because that was his intent.

Personality: Gauron is an individual who enjoys a good challenge. This seems to be the central theme to his character. He kills, tortures, destroys, and slaughters his way because it seems to be a method of relieving his boredom more than anything else. The worst way to get on his bad side is to do something that wastes his time or attempt to establish some kind of control over him. A very wild animal, Gauron enjoys being free more than anything but the challenge. He has no friends only underlings and respected enemies. His enemies he plays one of his favorite 'games' with though in screwing with their heads.

It's likely he's not above the most despicable war crimes though. Again, he mostly seems to enjoy it for the reaction he gets out of people.

Home economics: Gauron probably will gladly kill something with his bare hands and eat it raw or dine in a 3000 dollar a plate restaurant depending on his mood. You had best like it though.

Fighting: The only fighter who is probably better than Sagara Sousuke and quite possibly the most dangerous man in the world. He can defeat an elite special response team member with his bare hands in no time flat and fight in an A-S out any opponent he meets. While his victories are primarily the result of the Lambda driver he probably could defeat Kurz, Mao, and even Sosuke in one on one duel without it. Altogether he'd lose but that's not saying much.

Special Abilities: Mastery of the Lambda driver is his main ability. He also has about the same number of lives as Blofeld or Jaws. If you attempt to end your relationship with a bullet, its entirely likely he'll be back and may come back with Jason Vorheez or an army of russian soldiers or whatnot to wipe out your hometown for good measure.

Competition: This is where its likely to get controversial....Gauron is a narcissist and the biggest obstacle to any relationship will be convincing him that you are worth his time and effort. If in all likelihood he's the type to have a voracious appetite (based on his lusts for everything else) but keeping it to you is highly unlikely. As a physical man he's unlikely to see monogamy as a major play to his life. Somehow 'celibate' doesn't fit his character even as emotionally dead does as well.

Sousuke Sagara is also a major competitor even if he's unlikely to know it. Gauron is not a man bested often and the boy has become a weird friend, love, son, something figure to him. He's probably the only other being that has any emotional meaning to him and standing inbetween your relationship will be his obsession with the man who scarred him. Thankfully, at least its unreciprocated.

In laws; Most likely dead, possibly by his hand. Yours will probably be equally dealt with if annoying..or...there.

Economics: Money is no problem for Gauron even as he spends it like crazy. Terrorism for hire/ransom seems better paying than Mirthil and it seems he's also getting money from the Amalgam organization (or at least toys that he field tests), gun running (along with BIG bombs), kidnapping, probably assassination/sabotage, and who knows what other types of nogoodnik activities he's up to have probably made him hugely wealthy.

Any government hostile to the West would be happy to shelter Gauron and its likely the West would too if he'd felt inclined to betray his past associations (not likely too difficult)

Sex: More controversy,,,,Gauron may or may not be gay (or bi). Granted, we don't see much of the man and its only by his twisted relationship with Sagara that can be read as a father/son, brothers in arms, etc. He seems to have had a similiar relationship with Sousuke's childhood friend. It however can ALSO be read as homosexual so I'm mentioning it. He hasn't been seen with any girls or so inclined (only certain twisted fans see his manhandling of Tessa-chan as sexual).

Gauron's sexual apptite is likely to be plentiful but only when he wants it and it will probably be rough. He is a definite sadist so know what you are getting into if seek him out. He's probably had lots of experience though.

Overall: ITS FRICKIN GAURON! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!? He aint the 'marryin kind'

Still maybe the love of a good woman will...cause him to harass and torment her rather than the Sergeant. I shudder to imagine a woman evil enough to keep his attention. Maybe Mizuki is free....

Looks Can we say 'a dead ringer for Sean Connery'?

Smarts Excellent. You don't get to be that old without SOME smarts.
Excellent tactician, very pragmatic.

Personality Unknown. Very business-like and formal when on duty.
Has a compassionate side tempered by his disgust of the use of children
as soldiers. We've never been privy to more than that, but one can't
help but speculate just WHAT that side would be like...

Cooking Unknown. Probably excellent survival skills. There
was a (non-canon?) drawing depicting him in an apron...

Fighting Skills Unknown. Probably excellent, likely hasn't diminished
since him becoming a REMF

Special Abilities Only one who has a close rapport with Sousuke
on a deeper level than Officer-and-subordinate. Shares close working
relationship with Tessa.

Competition His Job.

Inlaws Unknown. Likely dead, given his apparent age.

Economics Unknown. Likely significant, given his time in Mithril.

Sex Do I even want to speculate? Probably has alot of experience
in the 'giving' and 'recieving' department

Overall IT'S SEAN CONNERY, FER CRISSAKES!! Little is known
of the mystery that is Kalinin, but he's aged well and there's alot to him
that makes him intriguing, and THAT'S half the fun, no?
