if you remove the gore .. all that's left is a tiny "we all seen it before" love triangle. mixed with above average ecchi levels. (imho)

the gore and darkness just counters it.

Well, how innovative can you really get these days when everything has already been done before?

I'd still watch this even if there was no ultra violence. Would the story be as strong? Likely the answer is no.

Can anyone give me some tips on viewing these .srt files?

hmm srt? i haven seen those but hey... ep 5 is out... omg!!! the doc u guys see in the previous ep is a DOM(dirty old man) he wants to rape nyuu.... no no wake up nyuu

Nana does not get killed, and gets prosthetic limbs.

Later on Kurama lets her escape (he was ordered to have her killed), then she ended up living with Kouta and friends.

Hm, I guess I should have... She did die in the anime though, and you don't have to worry about that aspect.

Oh well... at least I didn't talk about the most important part of that aspect...

Ah, so full of spoilers, guess I won't have to use spoiler tags and I'm glad I caught up to ep5 before reading all this

. Um, big spoilers below.

I'd stick a large "rated NC-17" label next to this series. The shock factor is the biggest thing keeping this anime going. But the action is nice and even though the non-violent part of story is cliche, it's still well told. It's not just the violence, it covered Mayu's abused (sexually) past and that was pretty disturbing also. Even though my nose doesn't bleed 1 drop while watching, it's diffinitely geared towards the brutal extremes of fantasy. I'm glad it'll only be 13 ep so it's not gonna drag. I can't wait to watch the next episode. ^_^

The biggest shock was in ep1. I thought that clumsy secretary, whom the animators went through the trouble to set her character up, is gonna be some sort of comic relief throughout the series but she lost her head pretty quickly. After that, the surprises are when Lucy doesn't kill whoever's next to her. But when she blew the head off the scientist in ep5 was pretty sudden too since he was still talking. :p

Remember kids, it's not that the story's been told before, it's how the story is told.

Yeah, I always say if the story's told well enough, it doesn't matter if it's "just another harem anime" or whatever other genre of cliches.

If it's entertaining... or intriguing... then it's done it's job in my eyes. I'm not looking for the next groundbreaker.

Anyway, Circle, you mentioned a very interesting point that I only realized subconsciously. The surprises are actually when Lucy doesn't kill the person near her.

I thought that dog was dead for sure, and same with Mayu when she interfered. But what I'd like to know is why she was a killing machine in the research facility, killing a hapless, sweet, caring, innocent, naive, and not to mention pretty attractive secretary, but she doesn't kill a "worthless human" (that being Mayu) in episode 4.

She even said she was reluctant to kill Nana since they were "related," but she never mentions why she was so kind to the dog and it's owner.

I don't think Mayu was ever confronted by Lucy. When she first sees Nyuu that night near the beach, Nyuu was already back in "Nyuu" mode and was running away. When Lucy was about to attack Kouta while the other girls were there also, Lucy was only focused on Kouta and she stopped.

I think she didn't kill the dog because he was tied up and she relates to him since she was a prisoner before also. So she cut his leash instead to set him free.

i guess lucy has a gd side in her as well... remember her saying everyone she has killed is not human to nana??? proves that she indeed is not really a killer

Ooo, ep6 has big revelations.

BIG Spoilers:

A cousin-counsin spit-swaping session.

Kouta finds Lucy and they talk normally a bit but she reverts back to Nyuu as a emtional defense mechanism before she could finish explaining about the past. Kouta seems to block out tramatic events in his life too. It appears that Lucy killed his sister (or father or both?) in the past.

The crazy mercenary is back with the latest cybernetic limbs and so is Nana. He escaped and is on a personal mission of revenge. The professor didn't kill Nana and sent her away instead to hide her from the director.

I thought it was so funny when Mayu held up the guy's phone number to ask his help in that situation.
