There will be a URL change for the forum. I changed my mind about that, tee hee....

I'm not giving out the new addy yet. There is a test forum there, and I don't want you people over there

But the current URL will also work- doing it this way will allow us to bypass problems related to domain transfer.

This is what I expect:

When we're ready to move the forum, we'll lock most of the forums. Probably OT or F+S will stay open but anything you post here after the final backup is made won't make it onto the new forum.
(that's why we'll lock stuff like Fan Works)

We'll restore the backup to the new forum, and need a little bit of time to rearrange things- as soon as the forum is able to be opened, there will be a link to the new place at the top of this forum (under FullMetal*Panic!)
The new URL will also be posted in this thread- so you'll easily be able to get over there. How much time is needed depends on how long the restore process takes, plus whatever extra time we need to remake any forums and things we take out before- I'm talking hours, not days.

I won't be transferring this domain until after the new forum is open at least for a few days and everything appears to be nice and smooth.

You should bookmark the new URL as soon as you first get there. But this URL will still work- before the domain transfer you'll have to use the link from here to there. After the transfer this URL will re-direct you. You don't even really have to change your bookmarks, but you should.

I think we'll be keeping the memberships. Yah, even 0 post memberships.

Some forums will get tossed, but we can keep threads we want.

I hope you guys don't mind recreating the Love,Spam, and Fanclub forum. I know there's a contest going on in Sousuke's Fanclub- we'll save that club thread.

Are there any other love/club threads you think we should keep? PM me about it and tell me why.

Forums FMP Vets, Fan Works, and Armory will be saved.

August threads in OT will be saved except the chatter threads. (bar, camp)

I'm not sure how much of Anime D we'll keep, maybe we'll keep all the 'title' threads (and toss the opinion/ chatter/ ect threads)

Special forums will be handled on a case by case basis. (ie task force)

We may toss the Behind the username thread and let that one be restarted. It's almost 2 years old

I'd like it to be this week, but I'm kinda having some probs doing a test restore.

When I can get a test restore to work, then I could give a date, probably within a few days after getting the restore to work.

My expectation is that the new forum will be open not long after this one gets locked. If you ahve perm things you wanna post on the new forum after this one gets locked, it shouldn't be a long wait.

Otherwise you could still post in the forum that's left open here.

After the forums are locked, you'll still be able to read them. No posting though, 'cept in the one left open.

I'll probably start locking some of the lesser used forums tomorrow night. You'll be able to read them, but you can't post in them.

I'm gonna try dumpingPM boxes by resetting the max # allowed.
Currently you can keep 50 in each box (which is 100 diff messages per person 50 in INBOX and 50 in SAVE BOX. OUTBOX also saves 50)

I'm going to lower that to 15.
Anything more than that should get forced deleted. I'm not 100% sure it'll work, but I'm gonna do it anyway *cackles*
After the move I'll up it back to 50.

The banners, smilies, and theme are gonna revert to plain basic and I'm not going to sweat over restoring those the same night, but they are all saved so don't worry about em.

It looks just like this one, except strictly stock. (ie, stock banner, stock smilies, no snowflake bars).

Hmm... it IS a good time for a good prank, but I didn't even think of it til now. There's just too much work involved in just moving the forum as is. But I may feel the need to seek revenge in the near future

When I take the final download, the forum will remain up here, BUT whatever gets posted here will be stuck here.

I'm gonna lock all of the forums except one, probably OT.
(Its the only real way to ensure anybody who comes along realizes that we're not in normal operating mode)

You'll be able to chatter and stuff here, but when the new board is ready to open I'll post it here, and whoever's hanging around can go take it for first spins. After that I'll lock OT too.

The locked forums will all be readable, until I transfer the domain.
(probably early next week) Then the whole place'll be gone when I cancel this hosting.

I really really hope that the time between taking the final, and opening the new board is no more than a couple of hours.

Right now the backup is over 100MB, and its time consuming to deal with those files and upload them. Know this- the less that gets transfered over, the smaller the backup, the quicker the forum there gets opened

6-9 hours is a REALLY long time to work on a script nonstop... its not that big...
but Id doubt Jae wants to work on something that small (as custom ranking) which requires so much time and work...
