Hey, I remember her! I've watched that sequence several times wondering why she's stoped for a moment looking after Mai and her friend. Now it makes sence. Thanks for the info.PookaKitten wrote:The main character is Arika who is shown at the end of episode 26. I think she's in the background as Mai and Natsuki are walking away from one of the buildings.

Isn't that the way magical girl anime usually works? You destroy one boss,
and the next one is waiting in the wings. Although... the Childs all disappeared, along with the Dark Prince, and the star... So yeah, how are they going to account for that...

I've found my inner child. Anyone seen my outer adult?

I probably won't watch it. I was really disappointed in the ending of Mai HiME 1 even though I knew they were going to go that route. But the way the executed it was worse than I expected. And now season 2... bah.

yea shiho REALLY made me mad...Teletha Testarosa wrote:lol i rewatched it and I find Nagi (the blue haired boy) hilarious. i dunno y
Hm...Shiho still pisses me off and let's see, hurry up and get it over with mai and tate.
but yea, what the heck was with the ending... mai and tate don't go ANYWHERE (relationship wise) then the guy who was possessed by the obsidion lord (sp?) is like hey, do u wanna go on a date? omg, i was just like !!!!
and the thing is, even there's a new series, i'm doubtful that these loose-ends will be wrapped up... especially if the new series revolves around a new character...
i guess ill have to take a look at the manga for closure...
Bump
Ah, was bored so I downloaded the 1-26 batch and watched it. The first 13 episodes took a couple of days for me to get through. The light regular stuff wasn't that special so didn't hold my interest very long. But I watched ep13 to 26 today. It sure is nice not having to wait a week for the next episode, so I can understand how some of you probably felt robbed cuz of having to wait for this kind of ending. Muahahahah.
I like this series. When the HiMEs started being defeated and their loved ones fading away (every death scene with the green sparklin dust reminds me of Hikaru no Go, NOOOO Sai!!!!). I was thinking, alright, it's gonna end up with just the main three: Mai, Mikoto, and Natsuki. But when Natsuki gets defeated, that's when I realize everyone's gonna come back/be okay in the end cuz no way they gonna let it end this sad. The ending with all the fighters and their loved ones returning isn't so unbelievable since those loved ones were never killed, they just dematerialized and got abosrbed into those pillars. So Miyu had to whip out her kickass modes to destroy the pillars and set them free. Ta Da.
This series is like Sailor Moon with the sorrow upped a few notches. Throw in some fanservice and spectacular battles and you've got a series for guys who are too shy to admit they love Sailor Moon.

Well, this is another rather good anime [dropping the 'traditional' ending....], the first 3 eps is hat gets you into it. Some people woudn;t like a few aspects of the show though, there's a lot of depressing storyline going on, and the "Hime Rangers" thing pissed me off bigtime, heh. Intersting plot though. And yah, I need to start Midori FanClub...
I thought we had a Mai Otome thread... but I can't find it. =\
Well, I just saw the Mai HiME movie trailer and didn't know it's just a joke from Sunrise until I read it on the animesuki forms.
Though I haven't seen any of the Mai Otome episodes, I should've know I'm being played a fool when the main character, Arika, is the bad guy. :p If only this movie is for real, it would be so awesome. I sure miss the goosebumps I get whenever I hear Mai's bloodcurling scream for Kagutsuchi.
A bit OT: There's this local company here in San Diego called HME. And everytime I see them at my school's job fair I think "HiME." Heh. Same thing with that drug, Midol; for some reason I just read "Midori" every time.

I second the recommendation of Mai Otome. I have to admit, I came close to dropping it, but it picked up around episode 4. I think half the problem was that the story centered around other characters, yet the original characters (Natsuki, Shiho, etc.) were around but not the central figures. I also originally found Arika, the new lead to be annoying at first. I quickly warmed up to Major Sergey Wang and he's my favorite character now.
Mai Otome is not a continuation of Mai Hime. It's an alternate world, perhaps [ecs]beyond the doors at the end of Mai Hime when Nagi and Masahiro leave the school in Fumi's keeping[/ecs] The original characters have similar personalities to their forebearers. Now Haruka has Otome powers...
