IT'S ALIVE!

Ok, well it seems like no one has decided to be cross at Tessa for a while, but I really need to be. So just a little bit ago I finally watched the FMP anime after being a hardcore manga fan. GAH! I can't believe how much of a bizatch they made Tessa in the anime compared to the manga. In the manga she's a sweetie and I actually kinda like her...well sort of. (What can I say? She comes between Kaname and Sousuke RAR!

) But in the anime? Wow. Every once and a while she was ok but the majority of the time I was ready to throw her out a window.

Ok, sorry I just had to vent. So count me in as a member...except I'll go more for the "Anime Tessa Must Die and Manga Tessa You Are Sorta Okay" view of things.

Well, for one, Episode 10,.

Oh I better add that there might be some mild spoilers for those who have not seen the first season of FMP, so be warned. But really, they are actually very harmless. Just anyways, uh, watch out.

Tessa- “I thought you were better friends because she brought food for you”
Sousuke-“We’re not in that kind of relationship. In fact, I’m struggling to establish a relationship of mutual trust.”
Tessa-“Is that right? *giggle* I’m glad.”
Sousuke- “Huh?”

And “A Cat and a Kitten’s Rock and Roll”

Don’t even get me started on that one.

But then,

, there’s episode 18.

Tessa-“Don’t you feel it’s quite narrow? But this is quite roomy for a submarine. I was concerned about the staff’s safety. They may need to run in here in case of emergency. So we don’t have clumsy people who bump into things and fall.” *Runs into pipe and falls*
Kaname- “Are you all right?”
Tessa- “I’m all right. This is nothing.”
Kaname-“You look unsteady. Are you really a captain?”
Tessa- “It hurts me when people ask that question”

But here she’s just so cute I want to hug her. Damn it. I just bounce back and forth between getting all upset over her messing with Sousuke and loving her for being so cute. But she was really far cuter and nicer in the manga.

But then there’s episode 20:

Kaname and Tessa are talking in Tessa’s quarters and Kaname says something about how it’s interesting to watch Sousuke being socially inept at school. Tessa gets mad and slams down her tea cup:
Tessa-“Hmmph. I don’t mean to throw up the white flag yet! I often see him at the base in times of peace.
Kaname-“Y, you do?”
Tessa-“Yes…the other day we escaped the base together and went to a deserted, sandy beach.
Kaname-“To a sandy beach?”
Tessa-*giggle* “The rest is a secret.”

I think there are a couple other times where I went "GAHDKJEGJKHS" but I guess it's all really kind of petty. Maybe it's because I can't stand angsty love triangles. Watching Escaflowne killed me. Seriously, watching Van and Hitomi and Allen and their problems killed me dead. AHHHHH!

But yeah, I guess I really don't want Tessa to die...just gah, I get so worked up over her and Sousuke. I can get calm again though when I think about what happens in DVMC.

So don't mind me, my OmG kIlL TeSsa is really just an exaggeration.

So you don't like her moving in on Sousuke. I don't know. I can't hate her for that. To me she gets nowhere, only helps bring out Sousuke and Kaname's relationship, and basically has no chance. It kinda makes me feel sorry for her because unlike Leonard, she really is a nice girl. She just happened to fall for a guy she couldn't have and isn't going to go around killing people and kidnapping and sexually assaulting Sousuke to have him. She lost and she accepted it, thought it broke her heart.

But I digress. This is the Tessa Must Die Fan Club, so I'll have to respect that. Carry on.

Actually, I found Tessa's ODBD (whoops) rant rather disturbing... it presents her as being quite spiteful, even if she is more than a little distressed at that point. It's certainly an unexpected departure from our regular impression of the demure and slightly klutzy girl.

Spoilers for COMO:
It doesn't help that in Boku-tachi's COMO release, the quote with her picture seems to imply "Say my name, [expletive deleted]." If that's the Whispered in her taking over, I'd be very afraid. And if it's just her regular dark side... I'd be even more worried.

Geez, give the poor girl a break. She's all of 16 (as of the end of ADVC),
carries the key to hyperadvanced technologies in her psyche that make her the target of ruthless powermongers, her parents are dead (murdered, I believe), her twin brother, who she had depended emotionally heavily upon has gone over to the bad guys (after killing Bunny, a whispered who created
Arbalest and Al, also Tessa's crush), and has been thrust into a position of
command over a vessel capable of massive destruction, and it's crew, with the responsibility for their lives, and if need be, deaths. Her high intelligence,
and tactical/strategical prowess does not change the fact that she's still practically a child in emotional development. She doesn't have the chance to
form relationships with her peers, since she has no contact with them, expcept for Sousuke. So of course, she's going to be interested in him.
As of the end of ADVC, Tessa knows where Sousuke's heart lies, anyway.
Now we'll have to see what happens in COMO, and afterwards.

I liked the way that Tessa had no problems announcing to Kaname that she
wasn't going to give up Sousuke without a fight. ^_^ Especially, since
Kaname was in such denial before... =P

Okay, I know this is the "Tessa must die!" thread, but somebody must sacrifice themselves to defend her!

I'm pretty certain that Leonard was responsible for Bunny's death.
As to where that gets mentioned, I'm not entirely sure- I think it
cropped up in some of the spoiler discussions about what's happened
"offscreen" so to speak, or before the time that the novels take place
in. It may have been information that was revealed in an interview, or
an article about the series, and not in the series itself.

Suicide? Maybe... But since Bunny is the creator of Arbalest and its AI AL, plus the fact that Tessa and he seemed to be fairly close, suicide doesn't seem to fit the character really.

If somebody watching this thread who has more knowledge than I would deign to clear things up?
