'proper'?!?!?!!? LMAO, you're such a video n00b, it isn't funny. ;D

Aspect ratio and scren format specs in the film industry which is the foundation of the video industry - knock yourself out

the low-down on the official dTV/HDTV specs

1280x1024 is a standard PC screen format
1280x960 is *not* a standard PC screen format

the only true 4:3 format is 720x480, so your screen is, technically speaking, non-standard in more ways than one.

don't confuse "aspect ratio" with "screen format"/"resolution"/"frame area". We all know you can do ratios but this isn't a math topic, its video engineering. Which means aspect ratio and screen format are two completley different things. Why? Because a 4:3 image can be displayed on a 1280x1024 screen with no distortion and you can display a 4:3 image on a screen that is a mathematically equivalent screen format and have it distort (like bluring, pixelation, or pixel-drop-out).

JAE: that's too bad it was cancelled, I was getting curious. LOL

I'm curious about exactly why they cancelled them, but of course we'll never know. Poor reaction, or no pre-sales, or underwhelming results? *snickers*

But the ADV rep who posts over at animeondvd got a bit fussy about how everybody 'mistakenly' thought the big deal about the releases was the HD part.. turns out the HD disc was only going to be an 'extra' tacked on to the re-releases. But that's what they for putting out that press release

But there will be a japanese Noir HD at some point, seems it was made in HD and scaled down for DVD. Milkin' it. Never learned about the other two.
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

Saw a Diamond Comics catalog for April? that listed the HD version of FMP!...
does that mean it's still on? There was no indication it was only special order.
About the only difference was it noted 7.1 audio... no guesses as to which
would be the only language track that'd actually PLAY in 7.1

Jae, would the ADV release of the first series single set your talking about, be the 4 disc compilation of the whole series in a box? If it is, I was thinking about getting it, but now I'm resolved to getting all the seperate dvds, if the 4 disc compilation doesn't include the extra inserts.

It is the whole first series, but like you mention, missing the dvd inserts and covers from the initial release.

I'm also not sure if this release also has all of the dvd extras content of the initial release, or if it's just the episodes, so picking up the 6 dvds is recommended for someone who wants as much as possible.
(they can be found used, discounted, in bricks.. ect)

Well, I want to get the most I can from Full Metal Panic! Thanks for the intelligence. Yeah, a lot of stores that have the Full Metal Panic! dvds usually only have the ones near the end of the series, like Mission 5, 6, or 7. Mostly 6, I don't know why.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

Aging title, so they're trying to get rid of it and not waste shelfspace restocking it...

Animini.... *shivers*

But they've got way older titles, like, any old anime you can think of, only if the people there actually watched Full Metal Panic! The only thing there, would be Full Metal Panic!...
