m9's....

Post by Teletha Testarosa »

Question.
As most know. M9s are the as's with that turtle like helmet on the top.
Recently, I have noticed that Mithril's M9's aren't always like that. Some have that wing.
Anything special about these?

Only Mithril had the M9 no one else had it they invented it 10 years before anyone could get past the blue print phaze thanks to the whispered. As for the wing or horn on the back only the commander of the AS unit had one. Like Mao's M9 had one while Sousuke and Kurtz didn't since she was in charge of their unit.

Ok after poping in the series again I think this is the answer your looking for. In the episodes where Souske joins another AS team in his ARX-7 I noticed they didn't have horns on their M9's. And they said they where jealous because Tesa and her little sub gets all the newest model AS's and equipment etc. So most likely it lets other Mithril people let them know that the crew of the De Dannan can't think of the subs name, are the elite of the elite and get all the best stuff.

Can you point to a specific ep this was shown in? Try Jae's main site
under the episode screenshots.

Aha! See! Episode 1, slide b, first picture
As u noticed the M9's forehead part is round and plain
But in epidsode 5, slide 5 3 picture in 4th row, u see that the M9 has that slight thing over it's head and it isn't a round shaped like head.
Is there anything different about these two?

Or if u look on the cover of the first DVD box u see that the M9 has the round head and on the second Dvd box there's that thing on the top]
To make this as clear as possible
Go Here and Look at M9

...if you're talking the different heads, then I have no idea.

The wing / engine pack (if that's what you were originally referring
to) that Mao & Kurz use to get to Khanka that ep is a modification
that allows rapid insertion of M9s into areas without the use of
helicopters, as was necessary before <-- courtesy of Anime Mission book

I think I read this on a site somewhere, but it said that Melissa's M9 has the special horn like thing on the head to denote it's difference compared to regular M9s.

http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.p ... back06.jpg

"Mao pilots the M9 Gernsback which, much like the character of Char in Mobile Suit Gundam, is customized with horns and other unique features to denote that this Arm Slave is hers and hers alone." From http://www.full-metal-panic.com/roster/melissa.php

Also, I can't remember where, but I think this site on the ASes, or it might be from the Boku-Tachi scanlation that said something about Melissa's M9 being of a different class or something. I'm not sure if that's what it correctly said. If it was, then it probably just means it's just special in appearance, and not in capability compared to the regular M9s. One of the biggest differences in Melissa's M9 is that it has a sword, and I think a shield.

I'm sure this is from the Boku-Tachi scanlations, but it mentions classes of ASes of Mithril. Like something about an E and D class pertaining to the M9s. I think Mao's is of a different letter class then regular ones.

Spoiler on the "Falke", Clouzot's special AS:
[ecs]Also, in the scanlations, there was something about Lieutenant Clouzot's AS being of one of two "Falke" class M9. It has the fuselage of a third generation M9, but the head is almost exactly like that of an ARX-7 Arbalest. Falke, means falcon in German, which I think is where it was made. Anyway, Mao talked to Clouzot about his M9, asking if it was one of that class, and Clouzot answers yes.[/ecs]

Mao's M9 in TSR ep1 has that horn and I think it's a radio/sensors jammer. Since when the enemy was wondering if his equipment's being jammed, the video focused on the horn.

Oh, then that means Melissa has an even more versatile M9 than others. Haven't watched the first Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid episode.

The M9 that Melissa and the other TDD-1 SRT members use is the M9D "Gernsback", which is the currently-fielded version of the M9 used by Mithril.

Cluzout's M9 is the M9E "Falke"; it's one of the 2 E-types that seem to have been involved with the ARX-7 testing.

Since she seems to have a leader position, It's not that strange her M9 would be equipped with some extra C&C goodies.

small request if more info comes available or you find tech stuff related to FMP please post it (also) in the Armory.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

I wonder where the other M9 Falke is located, or who and where it is being used by Mithril, though it'll most likely be never revealed.
