Whoa..all I have to say is that if Leonard were a real gentleman, he would have offered Chidori his coat out there in the pouring rain. ;)

...Did they just... kill off Yu Lan?

Also, does Kaname know Leonard is Tessa's brother, or is it just a "Hey you look just like..." kinda moment?

I'm not sure if Leonard ever fully introduces himself, but Yu Lan manged to say his name before she threw that weapon at him.

I forgot episode 9 came out in Japan yesterday. This is what happens when an anime takes a 3 week break, messes up the fans.

Yep, looks like even for Yu Lan, hand to hand combat against a robot is too difficult. Those Astrals have the face of Cylons. ;)

This episode has some really nice screencaps... wallpaper worthy if they're cleaned up or redrawn. :perv:

Chidori thinking to herself, "... Ohime-sama ja nai..." You GO GIRL! No, don't cry! She's breaking my heart.

Surreal episode...so much happened so fast. Since the novel version relied a ton upon suspense to create a special mood, this seemed so different...it's still pretty darn cool though...
Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?

Man, imagine how pathetic Wraith must have felt laying out there flat on his back in the rain, listening to Chidori cry for the man he was assigned to replace. I'd feel pretty damn low.

KILL LEONARD! NOW!!

STRING HIM UP BY THE ENTRAILS!!! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!! NUKE HIM IN THE DARK!!

...that said, nice suspense buildup to the actual unveiling of his face...
guess Mr Salaryman wasn't quite expecting that kind of night when
he hooked up with 'Miss Mizuki' :-D And I think Kanane's been hanging
around Sousuke too long  Now all she needs is ALOT more practice
and she MIGHT'VE had a snowball's chance in hell against Yu Lan.

I rather like the parallel structure about how Sousuke fights to keep his emotions
in check when he reported in to Tessa last ep, and in this ep Kaname
mirrors it when she reports in to Kagurazaka-sensei about Sousuke's
resignation note.

...as to Wraith's true identity... [Fred] Well whaddya know... a man in
a rubber mask. :-D Tho we're not privy to what is really under that skin.
Male? Female?

...now if only we could've had something blow up this ep

I'm sayin'.

The ass just pops in there after deciding to leave her to fend for herself ('cause we all know that chicks totally dig that). Then he starts spouting that pretentious analogy bulls*** that only the most naive of teeny boppers would actually buy into. And of course, he had to go kiss Kaname. Kill him. Dead. Deaddeaddead.

As for Yu Lan, well, she deserved to die. A trained professional assassin should know that's NOT how you clear a gun jam when you're trying to shoot someone. In reality, the shell wouldn't just pop out. It'd fall back in the barrel if you did that. Hell, she shouldn't have wasted time just staring at it like the shell would remove itself. She's just lucky that no one was shooting back at the time. No wonder Kaname wasted her. She had that one coming.

I gotta say though, I had my doubts about how well this series would be pulled off compared to the novel. I thought it would lose a lot without all the introspection. They've done a good job of conveying those thoughts and feelings in a lot of cases without having to say anything. It really tug at my heartstrings when Kaname was crying over Sousuke like that.

That being said, they didn't really convey one of my favorite aspects of the novel. In the novel, when the assassin ran out of ammo, Kaname stopped panicking and was determined to fight for her life until the end. She also thought of Sousuke and wondered if he'd be proud of the way she wasn't giving up. I felt that wasn't really put in this one. But I'll admit that I don't really see how it could have been without slowing down the scene or overusing the internalization.

Otherwise, they did a great job. I loved it.

this episode was amazing... i was teary eyed when kaname was crying and i just wanted souske to appear and hug her and say... "everything's alright, i'm here now"

:D

ok maybe that wont happen... but i still liked this episode; again the "i'm really scared b/c it seems like a lot of people are after me" was awesome; and it was sorta amusing to see kaname try to shake her followers; it'd be funny to see like wraith's perspective or the assasin when trying to follow her

hmm, weird when there was NO souske at all; i guess the series will get like this more and more, where it'll be character specific

it's always sad to see kaname so desperate...

The Silver Fox made his move, and stole something that never belonged on the ground, something that is dear to the Blue Aviary. Conflicts are built, and the groundwork is presented in a wake. The rain can only wash away so much, until it becomes unpleasant. But even though the Blue Aviary could never truly fly, she will make due on the ground, simply because she is strong. Next, the Steel Hound will face his interior glyphs, and find weakness more than strength...and continues so...until the bird that could never fly is within his sight.
