It's apparently from one of the novels - I pulled it from the novel scans on Jae's galleries.

The other galleries seem to be down, tho...

I tasted U.S. MRE rations a couple of times. They're pretty good, though I'd say that "normal food" is better. The pouches are awesome, strong and smooth feeling. I never drank the beverages on either times though, why drink iced tea when you've got soda? lol. Isn't U.S. MRE rations the best military rations voted by cooks around the world?

ok this is not about Kalinin's cooking, but it's a question about him. so after the last translation, I am So darn confused on a variety of matters. anyway

in the recent trans, kalinin chills with tessa's bro; has Kal turned bad? and is tessa's bro really neutral the way tessa and him converse on their parents grave sounds like he can stop anytime. but anyway, my main concern is Kal? good/bad? I liked him I hope he's not a bad guy for SS to kill, although that would be a rocking fight scene

I interpreted as Leonard helping Kalinin and Mithril.
spoiler wrote:Leonard asked him if he correctly did his operation. Kalinin said "We've captured Admiral Borda's secretary, Mr. Jackson-whom your people called 'Mr. Zinc'. Since we didn't tell anyone of my unit's movements, he was found out easily.-That means that Leonard helped Kalinin find out Mr. Jackson, who was a member of Amalgam. Also, that also means that Mr. Jackson was spying on the Tuatha de Dannan especially because no one was told of the Tuatha de Dannan's operation, not even the Headquarters of Operations. In Amalgam, they code name themselves as minerals, or other stuff related to rock. So, Mr. Zinc is a perfectly acceptable code name, and Kalinin said "whom your people called 'Mr. Zinc'." It seems he knows that Leonard is in Amalgam, making Mr. Jackson relation to Amalgam very clear. But, we can't think of Leonard as a real helpler of Mithril. One, Kalinin said that Leonard could have helped Mr. Jackson to escape, which Leonard replied then they would have to kill each other. Also, before Kalinin came, Leonard with a receiver in his ear, was listening to the details of a military operation in Japanese coastal waters. I'm guessing that it has some relation to the operation that just happened before, about the Pacific Christmas. He, while doing that, was also concentrating on his glass, to deceive passing people that he wasn't concentrating intently on something else. Then, when Kalinin arrives late from Sydney, where he and Leonard met up, presents his gift to Tessa in the party, he says that the red brooch, "This is from an aquantance of mine." Leonard was obviously the one who had given Kalinin the red brooch to relay it to Tessa, his own sister's birthday being a few days before. But, the red brooch might contain a tracking device, though I'm sure he would give his own little sister a present "clean" from any dirty tricks, relating between the war of Amalgam and Mithril. So, I think there's more of a 99% chance that the red brooch is free from faults. But, I guess we kind of already know that Leonard is clever, cunning, and uses any means without remorse, clearly no scruples.
This to is kind of unrelated to Kalinin,
spoiler wrote:Since Whispers have specified regions of Black Technology knowledge, I think Leonard's must be of the Astorals. He seems to usually have those 2 Astorals around, and also the Astoral attack on Sailor and Tessa. The Astoral studied her, and then brushed her aside, but to Tessa, that was a heavy blow. She comes back and tries to plea to the mini AS to let Sailor go. Either the Astoral responded and left them, or he actually obeyed the girl's command. It says that "Did its architect program it to listen to her entreaties? No, that couldn't be it. He wasn't that type of person anymore." Meaning that Tessa seems to know that Leonard was the "architect" of the Astorals, just like how Tessa is the "architect" of the Tuatha de Dannan. So, Leonard programmed it to obey Tessa's entreatie, that is what I think is the most likely. Anyways, he did give her a red brooch for her birthday, he doesn't forget his sister's birthday even though he's in Amalgam.
There's also this thing about Wraith, and "his" gender, and evidence of it, but I'll probably say it another time.

About the Astorals: [ecs]they went away from Tessa because they were after Kaname. If you read closely, Kaname thought that the Astorals were connect to each other, so that if she is found, the Astorals that are far from her will receive a message from the founder Astoral, and jion together to kidnap her. Kaname was right, and this saved Tessa and also doomed the Astorals.[/ecs]

Please use [ecs][ /ecs] around spoilers or you can do what Kashim did. Just don't use the color bbcode by itself. - K

True, but there is also the fact that Leonard is Tessa's brother, but that might not have been too important of a factor for Leonard. The Boku-Tachi scanlations don't say it in a way that completely states that it was the ruse that saved Tessa and Sailor from the Arastols.

In the novel, it does say the same thing as what I wrote above. It is unfortunante that only Japan and Korean have the novels.....

I see. The problems of not understanding Japanese, don't know how many times I've said that.
