Kaname Chidori was born on December, 1984 - Born in Tokyo, Japan. December, as in the 24th. It says it on the Data Sheet on her at http://www.full-metal-panic.com/

First, I did check the japanese version, and her cel does say 2003KashimArbalestAS wrote:Basically, Golden Week is from April 29th to May 5th. In correlation to my previous post, Full Metal Panic? FUMOFFU episode 4 when Kaname meets Senior Fuwa after 3 years, the date on her cell phone says Mon 9/8/2003.
But, as Kaname would be almost 19 in 2003, it's not possible. Most likely whoever penciled that shot simply used a date around the time the episode first aired (in 2003). Certainly they didn't get the date from the novels or another source.
What I thought the odd thing about the cel date was that it's September 8th based on it being a monday in 2003- assuming it wasn't entirely random. I didn't know the m/d order was used much outside of the US
As for if Fumo is intended to be occurring during the first series or entirely after, I was never too concerned about it personally. Definately the later Fumo eps are after the end of FMP! The manga runs em together, but my understanding is that the short stories weren't written with the intention of being able to fit them within the novel timeline. I've seen arguments over it on other forums, but haven't had em here. But IMO 'date-stamping' episodes is a worthy idea
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

I found this in the Boku-Tachi scanlations of A Dancing Very Merry Christmas, Book One, Part One A. It says here that
I'm guessing that at Jindai High School, the last day of school is on Christmas Eve, 2 things for Kaname to celebrate.spoiler wrote:"Its sudden, but instead of a field trip, we've decided to do this. It overlaps with the last day of school, but it departs on the 24th. Because of the kindness of a certain organization, it seems our second year students have been invited on this ship's Christmas cruise.

I just watched the English dub of the Tessa episodes of Fumoffu last night. I so cannot stand her! And the cloying, mindless twit factor portrayed by her voice actor didn't help matters, either.

But what does 'fumoffu' mean?
I've looked in a number of online Japanese dictionaries, and ふもっふ comes up with nothing. Doesn't sound like any conjugated Japanese word either, from my limited knowledge of the language. It's in Hiragana too, which makes it even weirder. My DVD box has フルメタル パニック ふもっふ.

"FuMo-Fu" is just the muffled sound Bonta-kun makes, unintelligible to everyone but Kaname.

The only time there was real dialog between the two was in the ep of fumoffu where they were training Ren's hitmen. Kaname was using a headset to communicate with Sousuke in the Bonta-Kun.Jae wrote: unintelligible to everyone but Kaname.

Now I feel really silly for having asked, now that I've seen enough episodes with Bonta-kun in it. Fumoffu is one of the funniest animes I've ever seen! Apparently the 'fumoffu' stuff becomes intelligble to Kaname shortly after, as I remember seeing a number of scenes where she isn't wearing any visible communications gear and she appears to understand what Bonta-kun says.
As far as chronology goes, it's evident that it happens just after the original series. The scenes with the Tuatha de Danaan being repaired at a drydock in some Mithril base clearly allude to the severe damage she sustained in the final battle with Gauron. It appears that Kaname remembers Cmdr. Mardukas saluting her, which happens during one of the last few episodes of the original series.

Oddly enough, I was watching the episode with Ren's family in it recently, and I *think* not 100% here but if you pause and zoom, while Kana's passing on the orders, on her face I think I've seen something that could pass as a hand's free mike. Maybe from her cell phone? Or some other gear Sousuke's finagled for her. It may have been a random piece of her bangs, maybe. But I want to say that it kind of looked like it was attached to something more wire like than hair.stormwyrm wrote:... I'll be the first to admit I could be wrong on this-Plus it is cuter if she can just kinda figure out the Sousuke speak in Bonta language after long term "exposure." Oh! And I couldn't tell anything in the Pony man episode.... was she in contact w/Bonta-kun? Or just generally yelling in that one?
I loved both of those series. FMP: Good for the serious plot and ocassional twinge of angst. Fumoffu: Ah the humor, and I'll admit it, It is amusing to see a Specialist get like a pinata by a high school girl.
Still waiting for TSR. *sigh* I need a region free DVD Player.

I pick first series over Fomuffu as its versitality. In Fomuffu and TSR you get only one aspect of FMP when in first series you get both so you never get bored. You have action and serious main plot with some humoristic lighter episodes.

Fummoffu vs. First Series
hmm, well i think the best one is Fummoffu, i don't really like mecha anime. But i love FMP Fummoffu.
The best thing about fummoffu is that it shows the relationship between Kaname and Sousuke and between Tessa and Sousuke.
So I think that Fummoffu is the best!
