Makes you wonder if the R&D budget of Amalgam exceeds Mithrils.

Found various sites that confirm that Leonard developed the Codarl and the Venom.

Amalgam does seem to have resources and advantages that Mithril doesn't have, only if Bunny Morauta stayed with Mithril, then they would have had a higher chance against Amalgam.

I see, do they only specify that he developed only the Codarl and Venom? I think there might be others, like I'm sure he would have developed his, I think, own Plan-1055.

Here we talk about AS. Though of course you might be referring to the Venom since "The body is pure red as if it were a scorpion." And then the thing about its name and a scorpion's stinger...
The execution unit of Amalgam are actually Codarl units painted in dark red. Interesting. In the novel End of Day by Day, it seems to me that Mithril's personnel confuse the Venom with the Codarl a lot, and vice versa.

Well, Sousuke's Improved Bonta-Kun suit is bulletproofed that it can stop rifle bullets. Thats got to be good. But then there is the problem, Bonta-Kun can be equipped with any weapon Sagara can come up with, but the Arastol has the left arm built in gun. Both have bulletproof armor, but then the Bonta-Kun can probably carry some kind of bazooka or LAW. With Sousuke's experience with Arastols, he'll go for the joints, especially behind the knees, but then there is the problem of the Bonta-Kun being large, but that's already solved with FUMOFFU showing its high speed maneuverability. Personally, I'd want the Arastol to win, but then Bonta-Kun speaking "Fumoffu" would make it like destroying a kitten. Good thing Arastols are emotionless pieces of metal.

Sousuke can always call in the Mikihara Clan Bonta-Kun army for reinforcements and surround and destroy tactics. By the way, do they still have them?

Venom is the code name given to it by Mithril.

Amalgam officially calls it Codarl-M (M for M series)

Right, about the Codarls, Codarl-Ms, and Venoms...

The Codarl is that silver ponytailed AS that Gauron uses in Khanka and Helnajistan/Afghanistan. It's equipped with a Lambda Driver. When that Doctor lady was talking to Gauron, one of the thng she said to him was, "You've even brought a Codarl along," which implies that more than one Codarl was built (which would also account for why Gauron has another one in Afghanistan). The Codarl seems to be a proof-of-concept AS or a preproduction protoype: after he pwns Kurz, Gauron is seen sitting on top of the cockpit, grumbling about overheating and kinks that haven't been worked out yet.

The Codarl-M and Venom are different names for the same AS: Codarl-M is the Amalgram name, and Venom is the codename used by Mithril. It's like how Soviet fighters are known by one name in Russian, but then have their own NATO codename (i.e. Su-27 Flanker, MiG-25 Foxbat, MiG-29 Fulrcrum, MiG-31 Foxhound, Su-25 Frogfoot). When video footage of Gauron's Codarl-M is first shown, Kalinin says, "This is the new enemy AS. We've given it the codename 'Venom'." Basically, Mithril didn't know what it was called, and rather than fumble about looking for the name the designer gave it, they gave it their own name.

The Arastols are called that by both Mithril and Amalgram, as Kaname heard Leonard refer to them as such, and subsequently told Mithril.

There are actually 2 versions of the Type-96 AS used by the JSDF: a single seat version, which is presumably a combat-type (as seen by the hapless Type-96s decimated by the Behemoth) and the tandem-layout two-seater types used by the Nerima and Narashino AS units, which, if memory serves, were trainer units.

I can't help but think that the ASes are pretty cool. ^_^ I've been writing a Gatekeepers fic, and I wrote one of the charecters stepping into a Gate Robot (Gatekeepers mecha. similar dimensions to AS.). The scene went something as follows:

Jon jumped into the cockpit, and the screen hummed to life, a synthetic female voice asking, "Voiceprint Check."

"Jonathan Mark David, Second Lieutenant, Serial Number D462318."

"Viceprint check. Identity confirmed. Your orders?"

"Hatch lock. Run Mode IV. Bilateral Angle three-point-five degrees."

"Roger. Hatch Lock. Mode IV. BMSA, three-point-five."

Whereupon I smacked myself on the forehead, bashed my head against the wall, and said, "Goose, you're writing Gatekeepers, not FMP!"
