When did you first realize

Post by Shewolf of Ga »

....that you were obsessed with FMP?

Firstly, I started dreaming of Sousuke. A lot. This drives my husband bats.

Then today, and I am so proud of him, my baby said "Fumoffu"! He will be two on Saturday. He's a quiet kid, so I was happily shocked with his new choice of favorite word. :D
To quote my six-year-old the first time he saw Fumoffu - "Wow! A giant hamster with a machine gun! Super cool!"

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

I was obsessed with FMP about two or three years back, before I discovered Berserk. The way that happened was basically after just watching two episodes. But real obsession syndrome was when I started reading fan-fiction, that for me is a borderline -_-;. Back then we also didn't have translations for the novels and had to rely on summaries by helpful members who had read the books and were kind enough to spoil us. Not knowing how exactly the plot continues after the fishing in the last episode was a pain.

Now I'm just a big fan of FMP and am instead obsessed with Berserk, lol. Write, Miura, write... Poor guy is so overworked, I hope he doesn't just quit.

That about your kid is funny, but I sure hope that he doesn't only learn anime otaku stuff ^_^;

For a two yer old, he has a pretty good command of the English language. His mom was a lit major, after all! The kids and I DO want to attempt tp learn basic Japanese, though.

One of my older son's first words was Goku. Seriously. I left Jae (my husband, not our beloved mod) with him while I went shopping for a couple of hours when he was maybe twenty months or so. When I got back, the kid was bawling and Jae wanted to know what the heck a dragonball was and why didn't I leave it for him. Jojo had been chanting "dwagon ball - Goku" the entire time. Jae isn't into anime, so he had no idea the little guy just wanted to watch a DVD.

I am willing to admit I'm obsessed with FMP. It is killing me that the novels don't come in English. I want to know what happens! And if Kaname and Sousuke don't finally get together, I may just have to send Gatoh-san hate mail (j/k). My previous favorite was Escaflowne, and the ending I hate to this day. They don't even get a single kiss!

:-D So do the poor fools we marry! We watch "cartoons" all the time, spend all our money on DVD's, tie up the computer downloading torrents, and call them "baka" behing their backs when we're mad. It's so much fun!

Very interesting. I became obsessed with Full Metal Panic! a while back when I first watched it, and I still am. Back then I was obsessed with it, and then I started to like other animes and manga, so I never became a serious obsessed fan. Then a few months ago I saw some beginning episodes of Full Metal Panic? FUMOFFU. FUMOFFU was so funny, and I saw that it was so different to Full Metal Panic!, but was so funny and awesome. Especially with the part in the episode with Mr. Kogure the teacher who kept trying to sabotage the bread. The kids in gym class when they did the dancing thing got me laughing so hard, and a couple of times after watching it again. It was so random and funny. So then I did some researching into Full Metal Panic!, where I winded up on Jae's awesome site, scanned it for everything I could find out about Full Metal Panic!, a big surprise when I found out the Full Metal Panic! series came from novels. I later got the guts of joining the forum, and that started my full enlightenment into the Full Metal Panic! universe.
I remember before watching the Full Metal Panic? FUMOFFU episodes on OnDemand Anime Network, I saw the FUMOFFU trailer the first one they had of FUMOFFU which is different now, on ADVfilms website. I thought it was going to be another serious like Full Metal Panic! sequel with something like Kaname being kidnapped and Sousuke rescuing her because the first trailer showed scenes of Kaname with the Summer Illusion of Steel kid, and Shumishima fighting Sousuke. It also showed Bonta-Kun repeatingly slamming his foot on the Mikihara Yakuza guy. That cracked me up. Lots of reminiscence when I was new about the Full Metal Panic! universe.

well i think i realized it when i saw the scene from fmp when sousuke follows chidori on her way home and she asks him why he can't walk just next to her.

its crazy but that moment gave that inner warmth and satisfaction only really a few series, films, bocks, songs whatever can give you in your life and you think time stands still just till that lovely episode ends.

have to watch fmp again

I wasn't really obsessed with FMP! (well, actually, I was for a bit), but then it slowly faded away... *ehem* But anyways, the first time I KNEW I fell in love with FMP! was when the final episode was over with and I was on the carpet bawling. I wanted to see what else happened to Sousuke and Kaname so badly. FUMOFFU really lifted my spirits, and then the making of TSR really made me jump with joy, [ecs] especially when I learned that Gauron was still alive [just barely][/ecs].

American Otaku: the Next Generation. Going where no sane person has gone before.... :-o

For me it was primarily SD's art- really caught my interest and I found myself really wanting to understand the story behind it- and the tidbits of info I found and picked up just kept confirming that the story has elements I really like... can't really remember what the obsession felt like, but I realized I'd be dedicated to it as I saw the first anime story arc....

Now it's less obsession and more 'just a part of my life', but I'm still so interested in the new art and seeing where the story will go (how dark/low can Gatou go?) :-D
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

I got hooked over this summer when my friends and I started looking around for new anime series to watch. I wathcd the first episode in Japanese with subtitles and fell in love with it immediately. I think I wathced the whole season in four days while working 10 hours a day... dang, that was really fun though. After I saw the fumoffu episode with Bonta-kun and the Yakuza, I have adopted the explative "Fumo!" and have been confusing people since. I have truly fallen in love with this series though, and since I usually just stalk the forums, I would like to thank all of you guys for making this experience so much better with your theories, arugements, and funny stories.

For me it's when Fumoffu started airing and I started watching the fansubs. I've just recently watched the first season before Fumoffu started too.
