Actually, I find it fairly interesting how Amalgam is seemingly better equiped on all fronts...Gauron explained that a whispered can have a lot of knowledge in one specific area, or more broad knowledge covering a lot of areas, and the amount of knowledge can vary...but Amalgam has tech in:

AS technology, ECS mechanisms, advanced VTOL technology. General stuff. Leonard could've supplied most of this.
Arastols. Definately far improved AS technology. Leonard could've made this too, supposing one of his primary areas is AS's.
The Lambda Driver. They've both been mass produced and improved hugely upon. So, Leonard could be smart, he could have an AS area of knowledge, and a Lambda driver area of knowledge.
Then, there are the ninja subs, and the missile torpedoes...where the heck does that come from?, Leo is better at submarine technology than Tessa, too? wtf?

No...Amalgam must have access to several whispereds, Leonard couldn't be the only one...unless he is some kind of super whispered with combined knowledge from a lot of different areas....

The death of bunny definately is interesting. What I'm wondering is if Bunny died as a result of a whispered experiment with ressonance...it's said that he comitted suicide in the manga (I believe there was even a picture), and Tessas description of how you lose yourself during ressonance fit's perfectly with something that could both result in a suicidal tendency, and a 'turning to the dark side' ala Leonard...
Perhaps, on this occasion, Leonard also gained access to Bunnys knowledge of Lambda drivers in addition to his own..

Though this is beginning to become a 'way out there' theory, heh

No, It's said that Leonard's specialty was the Cordarl (sp?) series. Everything else they have comes from other Whispereds. Remember, they've been abducting them and stealing their technology with those machines. They then use that knowledge to create more Black Technology.

imho that isn't (couldn't be) very long... she's still a kid...

The first 4 / 5 years don't count, when did Leo leave ??
Seemed to me she didn't see it coming...

I can't remember the references, so could anybody please direct me to the passages concerning Bunny's Whispered speciality and Leonard's restriction to the Codarl class of ASes? Thanks.

Far as I know, it's never said of what Bunny's specialty is in, nor is it said that Leonard is restricted to the creation of the Codarls since he developed the Arastols and there seems to be a lot of other new inventions that nobody but Leonard, as far as we know, could have made for Amalgam. From what is known, Bunny seems to specialize in AS and the Lambda Driver. There is also the Arbalest's AI that must be considered.

For the comeback fight of Sousuke...I was wondering about the thing that is repeated over and over: the lambda driver of the arbalast isn't finished, it's an incomplete product...this was partly due to the unfinished AI...

If you ask me, the final fight will be between Leonard and Sousuke using an AS with the Arbalasts lambda driver and AI 'rigged' into it...the difference would be that our two favorite whispereds would have worked together on completing it...it'd be a good climax...

Nothing is said of Leonard being "restricted" per se. All that's said is that it's speculated that he created the Codarl series. That was in COMO. I think it's chapter 1b.

From there, I assume that if different Whispered specialize in different things, it stands to reason that Leonard's specialty would be limited to the AS. Now, if that means just the Codarls or several AS types or the Lambda Driver some Codarls use, I can't say. But I don't think he would be the one who did ALL their Black Technology like the ECS units and the subs.

Sure there could be more Whispereds in the service of Amalgam, but Leonard is still a genius and a Whispered, which all Whispered are. I believe the subs were said to be more like underwater AS units in functions, though not too much in appearance. From what I know, ECS wasn't developed by Mithril, so then it would make sense that Amalgam would have the technology because there has been no evidence of a specific person in Mithril creating ECS, which would lead to the obvious implementation of the system by Amalgam since they are on such a high and arcane level on technology.

Well, now that TSR is over and it'll be awhile before anything new animated comes along, I finally read all these spoilers (pages 3 to 16).

Just to add to the speculation on how Sousuke's gonna get an AS to fight Leonard. Aside from getting a rebuit Arbalest from Mithril, I was thinking that maybe he'll somehow sneak into Amalgam's secret lab and steal a prototype LD equiped AS. It could be something that was built using Kaname's whispered information, either with her coerced cooperation or sucked out of her with medical devices. The later might leave a damaged Kaname depending on her strength, but we know she's a strong girl.

If we want the old Al back as the AI, the AS could be at such an incomplete stage that Sousuke was only able to run away with it (no fighting), returns to Mithril with it, and Mithril hooks it up with the salvaged Al.

If no more Al, I can also imagine the computer having Kaname's voice since she assisted in its design. Maybe she'll put some secret backdoor in the computer so that only Sousuke can use its LD.

Seeing Kaname display her Black tech l33tness would be very cool. But if she never uses her ability, then that's not so bad either cuz it'll just keep her as a girl who only wants a normal life.

I think Bunny is really dead also.

On the other hand, it might just backfire...

I vote Mithril delivers Sousuke's new goods, but how they're going to find the replacement is another story. Could those who've read COMO give us a rough idea of the [ecs]extent of damage done to the Arbalest? Was it completely destroyed (like Gates), or is there conceivably enough to fix it? If it was toasted completely, then there's no way Sousuke could have come out alive, especially if the Lambda Driver gives. So I was thinking the latter...[/ecs]

I don't know if Sousuke's AI COULD have Kaname's voice. It's supposed to be his alter-ego, right? Kaname may be his other half, but I wouldn't call her an alter-ego.

The alter ego was Bunny's explanation of what his special Arbalest AI was, so if it was destroyed then I don't know how anybody else would be able to create an AI that was capable of being at first a "clumsy child", meaning an AI with human emotions and learning capabilities. It's still such a mystery, seemingly cut short by the Arbalest's [ecs]defeat[/ecs].

If Kaname were to create an AS, it would be a blown up version Bonta-Kun that wields double harisens. And maybe the AI voice would be hers which would reflect her personality and be akin to Al that it has "awareness", and will berate Sousuke for anything it deems was stupid to do.

I believe that later some Kaname and Whispered action will appear which will reveal her "specialty." If it does happen, it might reveal that Kaname might be the "strongest" Whispered or something. Look at it, her specialty is undisclosed, it's all a mystery, and she is one of the main characters who has been constantly been targeted for her Whispered abilities. For all that and due to the story, she's going to have to be some amazing Whispered.

Wouldn't it be funny if after all that, her Whispered specialty turned out to be something stupid and useless? She'd have like the Black Technology for an ECS cleaning kit. Or the Lambda Driver oil change. Or the secret of the Bonta-kun voice changer unit.
