Hi, guys! It's like a family reunion right here.Wild Goose wrote:Fool's Gold from DS, right? Did a little bit of reading over the weekend, and I found out that Pyrite means 'Fool's Gold."Pyrite wrote:Hey, WG! So you're here too.
(I hope you can figure out who this is... )
I first discovered FMP back when I was active in the Evangelion fanfiction community. A guy asked me to preread for him. And the story he presented was called Full Metal Evangelion. It was one of those fusion/parody fics where you take the characters of one story and put them into the setting of another. I'd never heard of FMP before that, but while the story was ok, it made me mildly curious to check out the anime. So I'm pretty sure I started buying the DVDs as they were being released here in the US.
I typed a really long-winded retelling of the account on Anysia's live journal last night (though in respect, it was probably inappropriate), so I'll spare the details here.
I was sitting one saturday night in the weekend before the easter, not at all feeling like going out as I'd been up thel night before, partying all the way through it... I was browsing the contents of a server, wondering if I should pass the time watching some anime, and decided I wasn't that sleepy yet...
So I rummaged around the nice and tidy place, looking over teaser pictures from the various series. FMP looked relatively new, and the artwork seemed to be of good quality...there was also both an original and the fumoffu release, meaning there was potentially quite a bit of entertainment in it.
So I decided to grab one, and watched it half an hour later. I was immediately put off by the intro(the mecha lunch sequence just didn't do it for me at all), but then, when I saw the actual quality of the animation, and I heard Sousuke commenting the condom, that grabbed me by my throat and dragged me into the story.
Been hanging out inthere ever since lol - it's undoubtedly due to Sousuke , I've never seen a character quite like him.
So yeah, long story short, I watched it, then decided to do some research on it, because I thought I recalled there'd been a game made on it (I thought the olde 'slave-game' Slave Zero was based upon it)...came up with a lot of dead sites, and then this forum appeared out of nowhere. I digged around for a little while and then I decided to read the novels and buy the manga...and finally registered here.

Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?

The enlish VA of Sousuke?,...I thought he was the best of the bunch...
Well, duing the first few episodes anyway. I thought his polite and super-correct english fit petty well...of course, during certain sequences, everything went the wrong direction. Like, for instance, the point where they've escaped from the airbase, and Kaname and Sousuke go "...Kaneme....Sousuke..."...
Still, I thought that was nothing compared to the A21 episode where Kaname went "I hope you're okay, souskay" in her mind...brrr...

But then, the obvious solution is to watch the much higher quality japanese dub ^_^

Well, my story is quite simple. My friend gave me the promo disk that had the first episode of the american "version". After the first episode I was enthralled... I wanted more. I quickly dl'd some erm... illegal stuff (b/c i'm poor and have no job, yay for poor college kids) and began to download a sub of FMP. It was great. I was so happy. FMP made me like anime, and despite all the anime I've seen in the past 6 months since I started anime, this is still my favorite series. It was probably a few months after FMP I discovered FMP!F, which made me go yay because it was more FMP goodness. And now, I'm even luckier that FMP Second Raid is coming out. I'm just so happy.
Someone else mentioned how unique Sousake is as a character. I totally agree. I mean he shares with many other anime guys that he's not too good in the love department and that he gets beaten up by an opposite gender, but, the military aspect adds a whole new twist (especially in a school setting). I just can't get enough of it!!!

One day on another forum, we were all talking about J-pop and Shimokawa Mikuni's name came up. Everyone said she was really good so I researched a little. I got some of her songs and read a short bio of her career. It said she was well known for her songs featured in Full Metal Panic. So I decided to get the DVDs and, here I am!
I read Newtype USA and the first volume of FMP was run in there. I didn't read much manga back then but I actually liked it and decided to follow it. In one issue they also included a promo disc with the first episodes of a butt-load of anime, and FMP was among them. However, that was a year or two ago, when I had like no money, so I never got to buy any anime or manga. However, as I said in my intro over in OT one day I woke up and suddenly had this huge urge to find FMP manga and anime. So I bought the manga from amazon.com and uh, obtained the anime. I'm so sad that I totally forgot about this great series and it's characters for so long.
But, never again!
Now I'm just another crazy fan waiting for TSR and COMO.

I heard about FMP about 2,5 years ago. At this time Ive found some screencaps of the anime on the web. But somehow, i did not have the chance to watch it. -_- So i forgot about FMP -_-
Then there was a time I was pretty down. So my friend got me Fumoffu! to cheer me up a bit. I enjoyed it... i could not get enough That's how i became a fan. FMP is one of the best anime Ive ever seen.

How MegaDaffy met Sousuke:
I was sick one day and was watching T.V. I decided to see what was "ON-DEMAND" that day, So I look under the "Cutting Edge" section where channels like G4 and Anime Network were located. I found "FMP? Fumoffu" and "FMP!" in the "Action Zone" and "Giant Robots". I watched show#1 of Fumoffu and thought that was funny and cool. The series of events here continue into FMP Ep. 13 and Show #2 of Fumoffu. I liked it a lot.
I wasn't a big Sousuke fan until I bought the 2nd Fumoffu DVD Though.
THE END!

I was looking for a new anime to get into after just finishing with Rurouni Kenshin and Escaflowne. Having liked these two anime, I researched other animes that had been recommended by people fans of these series. Full Metal Panic was one of them.
So I began to investigate the series on the interenet, and found it caught my interest. When I decided to download an AMV of FMP, I ended up watching it probably about five times in a row. After that, I bought the manga, read the novels available at Boku-tachi, and have watched all the first season and TSR. I am hoping to see Fumoffu soon and read more of the novels as they are provided.
I readily admit, I am a Full Metal Panic addict.

Kurama: "You've done well so far all by yourself."
Sousuke: "That's not true. You idiots have been lining up for me."

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."
