Well, I was thinking about it... Now that Brandi is too busy with IRL stuff to carry on the translation of novels anymore, does anyone in the FMP community have plans to pick up her (very well done) work?
Considering how I'm one of the non-japanese speaking FMP fans, it would be nice to see at least how COMO is going to end up... Assuming it's been fully released in Japan for a while
I might know someone who might MIGHT be interested in it (if her reading skill is up to scratch that is, she is still studying Jap AND Chinese at uni). I will ask her, but I don't promise anything at all.

Should ask the ones who translated for fansubs for TSR. FMP is still pretty fresh to them and they might be willing to take on the project if someone provides them with the RAWs.
chap 2 seems to be out on the mirror but in the shoutbox it is claimed as a fake. atm can't check it out,,,,,
Edit it's a fake ..<g>

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

Yeah well Brandi may have been too busy to even let us know she quit
Anyway I was thinking if there were more able people on this forum (or occasionally browsing them even) who could pick it up and start making their own version of COMO (I wouldn't mind a re-start from chap1 even with some 3 months wait between each chap) thus Brandi would no longer feel any "pressure" to push onward releasing whenever she would maybe or possibly have time.
It would indeed be better if there were more able hands doing this... And hell I think all the volunteers should form up together and make a group for sharing the load. This works way better than 1 person doing all the work... Maybe we have better motivated people doing this when the pressure and workload is not so high!
And finally yes I'm well aware that since I can't concretically help MYSELF there's a bleak hope for me ever seeing COMO translated, let alone BOMF
you could help, though...you'd simply need to enlist the help of the correct people...
As Jae commented, somebody else should take care of negotiating with a group...raws are available...
I recon all it takes is the dedicationg of one member to undertake an investigation of groups, dig through mirc channels, and assemble a team...it's an interesting project, after all, and FMP is a popular franchise among the internet based fan communities...
I personally am not inside the environment, and besides, I'm too unreliable to undertake it...and perhaps I just don't want it bad enough...
But it's certainly viable to make a difference even if you do not know japanese yourself...
Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?
I've been lurking in the forums for a while, but I figured now's as good a time as any to speak up.
I'm a third year student of Japanese (basically, I'm in Advanced) in my university, and according to my professor I'm fairly fluent. Since I've got a pretty slack semester coming up, I'd be willing to try my hand at translating. I must admit that I haven't got too much experience at actually translating, beyond the few random pages of Honey&Clover I translated for a friend and some Bleach (before it got licensed), but I'd try just to find out what the heck is happening in COMO.
I know I couldn't ever do a better job than Brandi, and I'd definately need help, but, if someone could provide raws of the novel, I would be willing to try.
I'm almost done with college... but I can take more Japanese through extension classes, but that'd still not be good enough as a proof reader. But I can help edit the English versions and be a distro if we BT it.
Why not ask Boku-tachi if they will recruit you for their FMP project? They have other translators/staff that may help you also. If you don't want to talk to them alone, we can go as a group (or just you and I ). They also have a formal recruiting process for translators too, you can do that but just make sure you get to translate FMP. If you look at their shoutbox, it's just a bunch of ppl asking for more FMP.
Welcome to the forums, I hope the brass don't overcook you.
