Doggy!

Post by MegaDaffy »

How did the idea for Sousuke as a dog come about? I like it!

I dunno exactly, but there are references throughout the series criticizing Sousuke of just being a "dog" following orders. That is, of course, until the last episode of TSR when Sousuke proclaims to that military coucil that he isn't.

It is fairly ironic, either way - given that he has been fighting in a muslim country as a child, where being a dog is considered being the lowest of the low...arabian insults include 'you are not even worth stepping on', or showing someone the bottom of your soles, since shoesoles are considered dirty...'filthy dog' is another one.

I don't think Sousuke as a dog is supposed to hold any significant value as an arabian symbol, however - more than a little likely, it simply has the japanese meaning of dog to it, that is, cute, submersive and fierce at the same time...

I always thought it was a little silly and demeaning, but I guess you couldn't expect anything else from something japanese.
Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?

i remember in one episode that kaname's friends tell her that she needs to put a leash on sousuke. i think thats where the whole dog thing came from.

I think it started with Shikidouji. There are a lot of art from her that depict Sousuke as a dog. I think it's just some iconic symbol symbolizing Sousuke in a way that seems chibi or something of that sort. Purely for fun.

I think it works well and is really cute! (Longs for a plushie).

The way I look at it is that Sousuke was sent in kind of as a guard dog for Kaname but at the same time takes orders like a dog, and can be a bit dopey like a dog too! :-D I want to see more dog Sousuke though!

Dog / puppy is Sousuke's basic nature... loyal, cute from a distance,
packs a nasty bite, and prone to destroying things...

That and watching a room of rabid fangirls melt and go 'Awwwwwww!!'

Cute from a distance...I guess so to some people, just when you come too close to a certain charge he is protecting he'll put out his metal "fang" (Glock).

Rabid fangirls, heheh.
