While red x red and white x white is a good rule of thumb roast turkey for example, copes very well with a red wine.

Besides I'm not afraid to pick a Riesling with beef if I know if it's her preferred tipple. sometimes pairing wine x person works better. ;)

She's pickier about the table setting when it's formal than what the food tastes like... hence the problem. Gah >< I should plan fewer of these... then again the alternative is my disastrous cooking. :-P (I once nearly burned down the house trying to cook :? )
