But seriously, I think it was said that she had European roots (Italian-American, with strong Swiss/Austrian ties), Born on the East Coast of USA, but lived most of her life in Okinawa where her pops was stationed.

What does that have to do with Tessa visiting soldiers in California? She's complaining about the Mithril commanders, not any Californian soldier.

Well, the point is that they're West Coast Americans and therefore Tessa is American too.

I guess it was the palm trees combined with West coast that made me think of California. I'd say it's a pretty good guess. And they're Mithril soldiers, so it's not as if I'm that far off.
