[ADMIN] Using Quotes - aka mind your blocks

Post by Jae »

Alright, another ADMIN complaint!

When you are replying to a post, please use the reply button, unless you really, and I mean really, need to quote.

You don't need to quote a post that is right above yours.

You don't need to quote if you are making a general sort of reply to the thread at large. If you are on topic to the thread, you probably do not need to quote.

Use a quote if you are directly replying to a particular post or part of a post.

This is simple and basic internet manners.

Repeatedly and excessively taking us all to Scroll Hell will earn you a special invitation to Mod Heaven. As Dinner.

We may have to invent new punishments for this. We may enjoy that. Offenders won't see us smile about it, because they will only feel the WRATH.

(The spiders have taken over my personal weapons closet. I have to get back to doing my job here.)
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

Just to add to JAE's post:

If you do have to quote, please take the time and edit out everything, and I mean *E*V*E*R*Y*T*H*I*N*G* that has nothing to do with your reply. I donot need to reread a 2 paragraph quote to get to your 2 word post. (My fav is the genius who quoted the previous quote along with my note indicating a quote was eliminated and asking people to edit thier quotes. Really @#@*& brilliant!!)

Don't quote pics. We seen them once. Don't need to see 'em again.

Lastly, don't you dare, ever, under any circumstances, under penalty of painful death, quote a quote that quotes a quote that quotes a quote. We are not recursivly inclined. We don't even consider that remotely amusing. Thats the reason why we have this concept called "a thread". WE donot need to reread 2 days of posts just to get to your 2 word reply. I'm very serious about this. The next one I catch doing this will be in deeeep trouble, so deep they would need to climb for 20 years to even see one glint of daylight.
