Eva/NGE vs FMP .. -- Guilty as charged...

Alrighty I couldn't resist.

Sousuke/Arbalest would most likely anhilate an Eva. Where Power might be in the Eva's favor, Shinji just doesn't have the Military know how and practical tactical knowledge. He's more of a trained monkey, learn to do this sychronized battle "performance", Stand way the hell over here so you don't get noticed and blown to bits before the postitron rifle has enough charge to fire, yadda yadda yadda. (I do however think Shinji is a very sweet boy, but sweet boys don't survive on battlefields without protection.) The Eva has massive ability to do some serious damage if it goes on a Rampage, however rampaging does not really provide a Tactical advantage. And as has been mentioned, there's that dang Plug and time limit issue. Sousuke on the other hand has ECS equipment (I wonder how effective that would be against an Eva's technology though), apprx 8 years of down and dirty battle experience, coupled with a semi formal "Training", and more importantly he doesn't quiet flake out over his duty to stop an enemy complicated with his own wishy washiness (Understandable for Shinji-but again we're talking about a fight here-not expected Psychology of Opponets). Sometimes to stop someone-Even a former friend-You gotta wipe em off the face of the Earth. In some special cases, you have to wipe em off the face of the Earth Several Times - a la Gauron the Pincusion.

However I do believe that a hypothetical EVA pilot with excellent ATF manipulation ability and S2 equipped EVA would tear any FMP mecha to shreds (LD or not). Reason: S2 giving UNLIMITED power to the AT Field, simply overpowering any limited amount of power the LD of FMP mecha could generate.

Without the S2 organ EVA's would be toast, no doubts about it.
... but since the S2 gives them "godlike" abilities .. its comes down to LD black tech vs Eva tech.. and atm, sadly, Eva tech does seem to have the edge.
Then again we didn't see all the tricks the ARX-? can do.

Something else that really has yet to be discussed is what the relative abilities of the pilots are during the fight. Obviously both Sousuke and Shinji make giant progress in controlling their respective mecha as each series went on. If anything, I would think that you would probably compare the peak power of each mecha/pilot to decide who would win in a contest. However, we have yet to see Sousuke's full powers with the new ARX.

The only way I would ever see Sousuke winning the fight is if he was somehow able to neutralize the AT field of the Evangelion, which is highly unlikely.

Since a EVA seems to be biological .. there might be the possibility to create a airborn pathogen and we all know Sousuke has connections.

When a EVA goes berserk there is no way to control it (dummy plugs?)
and afaik thats when Shinji peaked (while being KO)

Well, if Eva 01 goes into berserk mode there is almost 0% chance that Sousuke will take him down. Shinji was able to hit a 400% sync ratio once when he went berserk. Not to mention, he becomes a ruthless monster with no regard to human life. You should also note that the Evangelions also gain the power to regenerate when berserk, similar to the regeneration abilities of the Harpies.

That said, it's like JSSDF played out the invasion. Mithril's best chance is to get the pilotswhile they're outside the Eva.

Oddly enough, some guy on GameFAQs just put up a "EVAs VS Arm Slaves VS Omnigears" thread on the anime boards. Sadly, it quickly devolved into a discussion about Weltall...

Actually, [ecs]Evangelion 01 is not the clone of Adam, but the clone of Lilith. It is stated in the series. The other Evangelions are clones of Adam though.[/ecs]

Really? [ecs] I thought that was Rei. Eva 01 has Yui's soul in it and Rei is a clone of Yui and Lilith, but I though all the Evas were made from Adam [/ecs]

. . . Man, I need to go back and watch Eva again. It's been years!
