My/Mai Hime
Well, I should be getting a copy of the first season soon; I wasn't really planning on watching the anime (I read the manga first, and found that it's concept of 'keys' for summoning children more interesting - and funnier, in Tate's case). It's just that a couple of screaming fangirls of it sparked my interest. I DO hope for a good showing....

Mai HiME was awesome, the characters were very realistic. I was impressed with Mai's emotions and actions during the second half. Even though you could predict what she was going to do (like kick some major @$$ after Takumi passed) that would be what a normal person would do. This is an anime that everyone should watch. (Of course with an open mind.)
Yeah, the defeating the boss in a few seconds and then cramming some happy stuff seemed out of place. It sucked that the all evil obsidian lord [ecs]was pretty much a gigantic eye[/ecs].
The Takeda dude who was the kendo club leader, he rocked! Was close to being my favorite character. They should have elaborated on his attempts on Natsuki instead of focusing so much with Shizuru. Share? And in HiME is Natsuki really a les? She was freaked when Shizuru announced in the last ep that [ecs]she was going to retake school to be with Natsuki.[/ecs] Midori also rocked.
Mai Otome is IMO better than HiME since it seems to have a more stronger storyline. The Tate conversion to Sergay was surprising. I'm glad that the ova is coming out. Characters that owned were Shizuru, Midori, and that old teacher (when she was in her robe). This is definitely one of the best ways in rewarding HiME fans since the reappearances were very amusing.
Too bad they didn't really go on too much about the militaries of the world. The weps in the first ep and the battleships look so cool, even though the Otomes dominate.
Also, I believe that the planet they're on is probably Earth even though they say that they came from space exploration. For one, the place Miyu went to activate the Star thing looked exactly like [ecs] Fuka Academy[/ecs]. And also in the final battle between Nina and Arika in space, the land masses looked like the Atlantic part of the world with N and S America, Europe, and Africa.
The last quotes between Nina and Sergay in the last ep was very heart wrenching. I'll remember it forever. Otome had an awesome ending.
