Lambda Driver Question

I've seen that excerpt, but [ecs]"Catapult"[/ecs] sounds really, really crappy.
[ecs]I've also heard it said that the man is Hunter, although I can't remember the source. Probably Animesuki, which is where most of the rest of the information comes from.
I'll bet it has a Lambda Driver - no way Sousuke's going to be able to take on the Belial/Verial otherwise.[/ecs]

That would be pretty awesome, I'd like to see Bel's M9-D with a Lambda Driver. He'd probably be able to use the Lambda Driver to it's fullest power.
I agree with you guys on the ARX-8 having a Lambda Driver. I wonder how it would look like.
As for the [ecs]catapult[/ecs] name, I don't think it sounds bad, but it isn't at all catchy like Arbalest.

Here we go, haven't done this for a while:

KiLlEr-Sensei Naruhodo!
The term "Arbalest" is a corrupted french variation of the latin "arcuballista", which is simply another term for "Crossbow".
Since an "arbalest" is a medival crossbow of a late period, so the name [ecs]"catapult"[/ecs] must have been chosen for the same reason: A medival weapon of a late period.

Well... Arbalest is a Long range weapon...
Well Catapult is better than Trebuche(Why? Because It's easier to spell)

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

A trebuchet is not exactly a catapult. A catapult derives its power from a shaft bent under stress whereas a trebuchet derives its power from a counter weight.
Also, you're thinking of a Ballista, not an Arbalest.

I think I've talked about this before, but I was so hoping for a sword. Because, you know, like, every main character must have a sword. Not to mention swords are cool. And everything's even cooler when you use foreign terms - IN CONJUNCTION with historical references. (Hence the success of the Da Vinci Code. ) Instant Win. Besides, I like swords. They're comfy and easy to wear...KiLlEr wrote:KiLlEr-Sensei Naruhodo!

...wait, never mind. But honestly, the trend from the past two models has been for human-sized medieval weapons. [ecs]A catapult, however, unless we talk about slingshots and stuff, is a primitive huge-ass artillery piece.[/ecs] Somehow, it's not the same.
(Of course, it could be argued that even English is foreign to the Japanese...)

Well I just pulled out my handy dandy thesaurus and here's what I got.
[ecs]Catapult[/ecs]:
Arbalest, ballista, heaver, hurler, pitcher, propeller, shooter, sling, slingshot, tosser, and trebuchet.
Seems like both of you are right, what do you guys think the best name is other than [ecs]catapult[/ecs]?

Hmmm.
Something that occured to me as I was coming home on the train, is that both Halberd (ARX-6) and Arbalest (ARX-7) are personal weapons, whearas a catapult is... welll, an artilery piece.
Maybe what Gatoh is implying is that the Arbalest was on one level, and the ARX-8 will escalated the scale of Lambda Driver-equipped Arm Slaves?
Wait, that didn't sound right.... maybe he means, taking LD ASes to a higher level?

I just said that. While it's an interesting spin on the idea, I don't know if we're reading too much into it. (And Trebuchet would have sounded cooler anyway. )Wild Goose wrote:Hmmm.

Gozer is from ghostbusters? Why does this not sound familiar. I guess I should watch it again.
[ecs]Catapult[/ecs] I guess could just be a meaning of a better ARX-7, but I hope it looks really cool with awesome features, like fairy eyes or whatever Kurz has.
When you say taking LD AS's to a higher level, do you mean like extremely powerful Lambda Drivers with more capabilities or just other stuff included with a Lamda Driver?

Reason why Mithril Lambda Driver seems to be more unstable than Amalgam's version is that it requires pilot to be complite from his or her mind. This is what Sousuke lacks althought in end of TSR he gets more weill power from Kaname that enables him to destroy all Courans in Hong Kong.
