Lambda Driver Question

but only reason why he can use it is that he is hero of the Mithril. One that is called when normal Mithril soldiers can't handle sittuation (and his main charachter of entire series after all).

Sousuke was never meant for the ARX, I mean the only reason he got it was because of Gauron making mince meat out of the M9's

The drugs made it easier to generate the correct brainwaves to activate the LD. Being more aggressive or mentally instable was one of the side effects.
Gauron and Gates were more mentally focussed in obsessively reaching their goals thats the reason they have it more easy to use the LD.

Also I have to see TSR or read it again, but did the rest of Gates/Kaliums killsquad actually use the LD?

Thats how heroes get they equipments, by accident. Sousuke was hero even before he got ARX, he just got what story needed him to get. AS with LD so he could fought his nemesis in AS with LD (Gauron's Couran in that case). Heroes are never made, you come one or you do not come one.

You can apply "because the author wanted it that way" to anything in fiction, but everything that happens within a good story should be accounted for without having to break the fourth wall.

Sure but thing is that main charachter usually explains why he/she can do it so clearly they didn't even bother to explain why Sousuke could use LD and with bad guys like Gauron, drugs are most sinister explanation and great for making them look evil.

@Mecha: Yeah, but the LD is Black Technology - implying that characters aren't even meant to know how it works. We don't even know much about the Whispered phenomenon, aside from access to mental blueprints of incredibly advanced technology, enhanced intelligence, and mental "resonance".

Okay, so "We don't know" is actually a way of accounting for things, if used correctly.

But... there are two explanations for anything that happens in fiction, one that applies within the work (characters), and one that applies outside it (the author's work). Your explanation, "Sousuke got the Lambda Driver because he's the main character", applies when we're talking about FMP as a work of fiction, but not when we're talking about FMP as a "universe", with characters that we temporarily assume to be real people with real thoughts and motivations, and events that happen as a result of God/cause-and-effect/fate/chance, not the whim of an author (who is not to be confused with "God" in the context of the fiction).

And yes, we're off-topic.

@Taurec: Novel-wise, it's never really confirmed - Sousuke wasted them too quickly. The way the squad took out the renegade Venom, and the wording of some of the lines, suggests that they do have LDs equipped. I think TSR confirms it, but I can't recall either.

I personally would have to attribute it to Kalinin. He's in command of the ground forces, isn't he? Anyways, the Arbalest would've been in an advantage in the situation they were expecting, ward off the enemy and escape. They probably didn't expect the Codarl to appear, though the fact that they sent the Arbalest and not an M9 might have been insurance, since they still didn't confirm its destruction. Why they gave it to Sosuke and not someone else... Well, I'd have to attribute that again to Kalinin trusting Sosuke. But that's just my thought on it.

Thats one nice looking AS. Surely Leo Testarosa has style but does he has also skill to use it? Surely he must now how LD works (he must had created it after all) but his not so AS pilot type.

He trashed Sousuke and the ARbalest, and did a combat drop from a C-17 without using a parachute, and landed fighting. That would persuasively suggest that he can fight, and that he can use a Lambda Driver-equipped Arm Slave.

Also, Belial was designed by Leonard, so he probably had it tuned to meet his specs and whatnot.

mecha department, Leonard just CANNOT compete in the babe appeal dept

Its kinda ironic becouse Leonard is basic bishounen bad guy seen in mecha anime since first Mobile Suit Gundam. His clearly Chad Aznad style charachter, exept he dosen't care about his sister.
