Just got back from Saturday's Comic Con.
But first off, about Friday:
I wanted to see the Battlestar Galactica panel and get some autographs from some of the cast members. But the panel was at 2pm, I didn't get off work until 1:45pm, came back home to change and eat a late lunch so didn't leave for the Con until 2:30. Got to the convention center at by 3pm but took another 15mins to find parking and 20mins to walk from my parking spot to the Con. Though I had no chance of seeing the BSG panel, it was a productive day in the sense that I got my pass that day (saturday's line to get the pass for pre-reg was really really long), I'm now experienced in the parking situation in downtown San Diego during special events, and I spent a good deal of time browsing the exbitors on a showroom floor that must be at least one square mile large, along with Hellfire, CPOK, and Noir. We watched some screenings of a few anime episodes including Fumoffu ep10 (yakuza vs Bonta-kun army).
Saturday:
Today had a lot more stuff I wanted to see but could only complete my primary goal: to get Nobuhiro Watsuki-sensei's autograph. This time, I bummed a ride to the Con from a friend who's also going with another friend. The other friend was there to compete in a tournament of the card game Raw Deal (WWE card game). So when we got there, I split off from the others to get in line 30 min before the 1:30pm panel of Viz's Shounen Jump panel that features Watsuki-sensei. It was entertaining, some good question and answers. More Japanese speaking fans than I thought there would be. Some good Kenshin cosplayers, some crazy Kenshin fangirls. Saw a preview of a new anime in fall based off his current manga, Busou Renkin that's coming in the fall. I'll check it out and it might be one of the very few animes I still follow while it airs. The panel ended at 2:30, at 3:00, I went to Viz's exibitor booth to get the tickets that were passed out to get autographs. I bought vol28 of Kenshin manga and the Kenshin "Profiles" book. Got a free Kenshin poster with those. At 3:30, got in line for the signing, at 4:15 met Watsuki-sensei and he signed my Kenshin poster and I had him address it to my name written in Chinese. :-D . W000hoo, mission complete. Maybe I should frame the poster now. ^^
But I was a little bummed that because getting Watsuki-sensei's autograph is a must, I had to sacrifice seeing 2 panels I wanted to see due to overlapping schedules. I wanted to see the Avatar (cartoon on Nickelodeon) panel and one of Adventures of Brisco County Jr. to see Bruce Campbell (and I found out he was signing later but I didn't know where). If I woke up earlier, I could've seen the Simpsons' panel featuring the cast too.
Oh well, overall, today was a big success. Watsuki sensei was wearing some sorta olive green men's kimono/martial arts style shirt, and matching pants, with sandals, and a blue/white bandana on his head. He's taller than I imagined. :)
Later in the afternoon I met up with my friend again and we meet up with Hellfire and CPOK and chilled a bit. We were gonna go when the other friend was done with his tournament but that was still going on after the exhibitors hall closed and I was just gonna wait a bit at the tourney room until the games' done but it was gonna take a while longer so got Hellfire to get me 2 tickets to see the Masqurade Ball. Stood in line to get in for a while and after we got in and sat down and watched some movie/game trailers, got a call from the tourney friend and he was eliminated at 8th place. So my friends and I decided to just go home. Hellfire and CPOK said they'll take lots of pictures of the cosplayers for me. Hope they got the one of cosplaying as White Queen, she's a hotty.
Not planning on going tomorrow, Sunday, cuz the panels don't look as interesting. So that's it, normally I'm a grunter on this forum but I guess this is one of those rare long posts. =)

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

here we go, the short, short version...
wednesday
Flight down, couldn't get a hold of CPOK to confirm the hotel (my bad),
so it was alot of fun standing around and looking pretty at the airport
in Diego than going down to the convention center to get the passes.
thursday
Aaah, the refreshment of baking in the sun waiting to get into aircon'd
comfort. Thanks again CPOK for suffering with us Caught some anime
and wandered the dealer room to get an idea of what stuff to buy. Photographing
figurine sets out the yingyang was an amusing diversion.
CPOK and I also cleaned out one dealer of FMP!F figureines...
duplicate Kaname ones going for cheap... inquire within
friday
More wandering the dealer's hall... found the authors of Aoi House and
a collection of Trek Ships of the Line unfortunately not for sale yet *rgh!*
This was the day we met up with Circle -- hope we didn't scare you off
too much dude
saturday
AKA Lineup from hell... if you were on a daypass day Dealer
booth and boothgirl photography mostly while CPOK stood in line
for the masquerade tickets -- sorry, but no shots from that as we were too
far back for even HIS zoom lens Suffice to say not many anime
costumes, Numa numa HAD to be played once, the MC didn't know about
Evangelion *blasphemy* and for all his 'no touching the MC' crack, you
could tell some girls certainly got him going
sunday
Midway tour... dayum, I haven't been in gunbunny heaven since...
Too bad I had an afternoon flight out and couldn't take anyone on in
a simulated dogfight. And everyone was too chicken to try the 'you on
the catapult, your jewels in San Diego bay' trick
About the only thing I had to declare at Customs was a summer cold developing...
Regards
