Awaiting BOMF

Post by cullenk »

Many many thanks to Brandi and the people at Boku-Tachi for translating these novels. They are obviously a labor of love, and, though we are all dying to read BOMF, we should make it clear to these fine folks that we are aware of how much work must be involved in these projects and give them our appreciation.

I don't speak Japanese so I have no way to compare the translations to the original, but I find these translated novels and short stories hard to put down.
They are so entertaining that if anyone ever licenses the works and publishes them commercially, I'd go buy them! Heck, they ought to hire Brandi and company and pay them handsomely, they have already done the heavy lifting after all.

I'm a newbie here, and mainly joined just to say that. Cheers all!

Not yet. And sadly Ravyn, our beloved BOMF translator, took a break to get a job.
There wont be an update for BOMF until after Aug 25th. Just thought I'd let you guys know instead leaving you hanging.

I've got some courses that I have to take in the next month to qualify for a new job. And considering the fact that I have to pay almost 1000.00 to take the courses, they will be taking pirority.

After I'm done then I'll start up again. And hopefully I'll also have a new (way better paying) job too!

Enjoy your summer!

Now that TokyoPop has licensed the novels will the BOMF fan translation continue?

I've read some of the early chapters, and while I miss all the usual supporting characters, it is kind of interesting to see Sousuke out on his own. With no Mithirl, no Chidori, or any of the other anchors in his life, you have to empathize with the guy, and appreciate the character's tenacity. I think it wouldn't have rung true for him to just show up on Leonard's doorstep without having to go through some kind of quest or trial.

The one part with Kaname (there may be more, but I haven't seen the whole novel), is kind of ambiguous. See seems to be cooperating with Amalgam, but it didn't seem like she had drunk the Kool-Aid. More like she is making good on her deal at the end of COMO.

I also am inclined to think Tessa will be the one to deal with Leonard. Maybe they will have a Luke and Darth confrontation, and she will turn him from the dark side? Of course if that happened it would disappoint all of us who would like to see him dispatched with something large, loud and technicolored...

Other questions I'd like to know the answers to:

What is up with Kalinin? Is he a ratfink or not?
How is Kyoko? Did she pull through?
Where is TDD-1, Tessa, Kurz and Mao?
How has the absence of Sagara affected the mental health of Miss Kagurazake?
Is Mardukas getting enough fiber in his diet? He seems very dour...

Patience...Patience...Patience...

Think that answers your question there cullenk... or just ask Boku-tachi themselves directly.
Nothing like getting it straight from the source.

Thanks for that. I figgered Boku-tachi had quit, but there was some indication the folks at www.fumofu.org might continue.

HOWEVER, now that I THINK about it with my brain, I realize the question is verbotten on this forum, so as the late great Emily Latilla used to say "Never mind..." :?

Actually .. it's still not clear to me if TP has licensed anything other than the first few novels .. so atm we allow it.

Going by the list on the side bar of Tokyopop's page for the first novel, It looks like they've at least got the rights to first 12? Yeah? Or do you think they're just putting that there because? What number book is Gatou up to now? 16-ish range, isn't it?

I believe tokyopop is only doing the main plot books. But seeing on the TP website that it says 12 volumes, and there are only 10 mainplot books(including the last one yet released), they're probably releasing some of the side story ones.

And I believe once the last one is done, it will be 20 novels Gatou has done.

BOMF is either #17 or #8 if they only would do the main story.
Want/Need solid proof of what they will publish.

for now ... questions about where to download #1 are a ticket to ban.
