"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

It's a long story that I've explained to far too many people.

Yeah, I know. No offense. It's just that when when people ask me why I'm doing what I'm doing, it almost always means they're looking to debate with me. And while I'm prepared to defend my choice, I've done it enough to know that it's starting to wear me out.

You're an MP in S Korea? Why does it suck there? I was considering requesting that assignment.

I'm not in but my father's Air Force (23 years+ service time) and fiance is Marine Corp.

I helped take down the Berlin wall, was at Aviano AFB in Italy during the Kosovo conflict (the base where primary flight attacks took off from) and worked at LRMC Hospital in Germany during the War with Iraq (the third of four stops on the way home for wounded American soldiers dependent on how wounded they were in the war, the fourth stop took them back to the United States, so there were several severly wounded troops at LRMC).

While I'm not actually in uniform, I can never understand completely what it is you go through as troops.

Being a dependent my whole life and growing up overseas most of my childhood gives me insight. While it was the "Chair Force" I worked on Army outposts and spoke with enlisted in every branch of the military. I also volunteered at the hospital and heard several stories of things that go on "behind the news broadcasts." You'd be amazed.
Let's just say I grew up fast.

Everyone has their reasons so I don't ask. Usually it turns out to be nothing like they were told it would be or expected it to be - not unlike any other job. But military entails a contract - a decision they can not revoke on. Why make it harder on them? Things happened they way they did and no one could see it coming. There are aplenty of people with civilian careers that change their mind and can back right out of their career into another, or relocate. Military gets the added distress of defending their position daily. I'm sorry for that.

My father tried to get me to join but I refuse for (several of) my own personal reasons. I had an advantage in growing up with it.

And now I'm marrying into it. Not sure which might be more of a psychological game... joining & dealing or not being able to know anything about your husband who's dealing with the roughest branch of the US Military. It's ultimately a decision we all make.

Just be safe you guys.

I take back my recent comments, you should become a mp IF they you give the chance to be stationed in south korea.

if they give you some hack job in iraq turn it down unless you really want some action though you will be fighting like you have both your hands tied behind your back....

Meh, with the whole thing of a crazy Nokpr? Go request an assignment somewhere unimportant... like guarding what's left of the old Keflavik Airstation. :P
Remember kids, trying to start Armageddon is dangerous. Do not try it at home.

[14:57] Silver Lynxy: Ack. You couldn't see that?
[14:57] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: Nope, cant see a thing.
[14:57] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: Not using MSN remember?
[14:57] Silver Lynxy: Oh right. You're one of those Trillian people, aren't you?
[14:58] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: trillian people? =.= What are we, an ethnicity now?
[15:00] Silver Lynxy: Yes. An evil race.

Well, I won't know where I'm going until after basic. And though I can recommend assignments, it's really wherever they decide they need me. A friend of mine in Special Forces says that since I'm signing up for Airborne, there's no doubt that I'm going to Ft. Brag and then on a plane to Iraq. Not sure what I think of the war at this point but... that was the eventuality I had been preparing myself for. So I think I'll be ready for it when it happens.

One thing though, why do you say it's like fighting with your hands behind your back?

Heh. If I was in basic, they wouldn't be letting me write here. I leave on the 20th. It'll probably be a few months after that before anyone online actually hears from me. Though I do get two weeks off in December, so I'll give you guys a progress report then. :p

Ack, misread. Sorry. I thought this was your break from basic.

:-D looking forward to that progress report... that is, if they let you out with optimal usage of your limbs... *shifty eyes*
