I think it may be a mix of Krav Maga and Tai Quan Do because he uses his legs to keep his opponents at range.

Hard to say. The more you get into martial arts, the more you realize that at their core, most are very similar. They just take different approaches to the same goals. Some might focus a little more on one aspect than another.
While he does kick, I don't think he relies on his legs nearly enough to say he does Tae Kwon Do. He uses a lot of punches and grappling too. Krav Maga might have been my first guess with all the knife fighting, but it's an Isreali style. Sousuke was raised by their enemies. Not sure how he would have learned it, unless the Isrealis taught it to Russian soldiers.
His style is also not very flashy or fluid. It's more direct and linear, and a little on the crude side.
I would imagine he would have trained in some type of Russian martial arts that he learned from Kalinin. But the only one I know of off the top of my head is Systema, and it really doesn't look at all like that, since Systema focuses more on being fluid.
I'd say it was some type of Russian Special Forces training that's probably derived from several different styles. And like most military martial arts, it's something that's designed to train troops quickly, rather than slowly building a student from the ground up both inside and out like more traditional martial arts.
That's my take on it.

If I think of Russian influence it could be Barokai, Systema, Sambo or even that funky shit that Popov was teaching but karate / judo and the rest of the basics could have been taught while having a Mithril bootcamp vacation.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

Most likely it's basic military CQC = Close Quaters Combat.
Sousuke might also have learned MCMAP from Mao: Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. MCMAP's idea is to make an unarmed combat style that's more practical than LINE or traditional martial arts, with emphasis on kicking ass and espirit de corps, rather than self-enlightenment.
