I wonder,

We saw the M9's dance and put in a sentry mode where they would shoot anyone without IFF.

Would the ARX-7 be capable of acting on it's own?
The new Gund... ARX-8 seemingly can.

Specifically, the Arbalest more or less roof-hopped over to where Sosuke was after he and Wraith saved Kyouko. There's probably other instances though.

I kinda meant in full combat.
It's able to analyze combat data .... it's should be able to react faster than a human ....
LD might pose a problem though..

Well, as far as full combat goes, it is probably possible, though yes, I agree, the Lambda Driver would be the primary issue, unless Al is able to emulate the input required, though I don't know how that would work.

The ARX-8 can also fight in "stand alone" mode, just like the M9.
Infact, with the extra arms, Al and Sousuke can fight side by side.

However, with the ARX-7 the highly prototypic nature of the A.I. might've prevented it from engaging in combat by itself effectively.
Al is effectively a learning child, starting with a clean slate when Sousuke pilots it for the first time.
