Around 5 years ago I refused taking lessons .. I knew I would probably drive myself to death. Now I'm older and maybe wiser.

Without a doubt its a nice bike but the cheapest here is around 7000+ euro's
I think my budget will be around 2 - 3k max.

There is such a thing as defensive driving. It does only go so far, but makes a difference.

Sure, smoke mortars and ECM go a long ways in defensive driving.

As do proximity mines, oil slicks, and ray shielding.

Other people are a concern whether in a fully covered car or on a moped scooter, but the only thing you can change about that situation is you.

Sorries, my father is a Chief Safety Motorcycle Instructor for the Air Force. As a result I know a whole lot about motorcycle safety (whether I wanted to or not) and because I actually have my MC license, defensive driving. 'Course last summer I retired driving on the Autoban :] so I no longer have to deal with that aggressive driving Euro-style. Hats off to you gents and ladies that do.

Thats interesting .. compared to us Dutchies German drivers seem pretty well behaved.

german drivers are the worst. most of them can't drive at all and they all are ultra-aggressive and egoistic.

the french are kind of bad, too. and the dutchmen only drive with carvans

That's not the experience I have with them.

If I use my indicator, they give space..... and in the netherlands you have to force yourself in. usually yelling "aan de kant klootzak"

hm yeah. the swedish drivers seem to be really easygoing when I was there last year.
I heard that in the netherlands everybody who fails 3 times at the driving test gets a yellow license plate

Eh ? indeed, actually I haven't had the chance to fail that many times and I haven't made my final decision on what bike to get.

Also for somebody who continually drives on the wrong side of the road you have to hush it.

lol I'm thinking I'm the most defensive driver in the family. I'm always on the look out for my speedometer, I never overtake someone unless it's really slow, etc. I guess I'm just scared of 2 things... cops and my parents' wrath.
