Appleseed: Ex Machina

Post by HELLFIRE »

...since we haven't had a new anime review in awhile...

Oh...my....gawd...!

What I liked:
- the CG -- looks a lot less rigid and more natural than the 1st Appleseed
- the action
- the explosions
- Athena & Nike   who said politics was boring?
- the way-cool borg-like hive thingie at the end

What could've used improvement:
- the story -- I mean seriously... mind control thru direct brainfeeds? Umm, didn't I see this somewhere before?
- expansion of Briareos' clone's character
- "suspension of disbelief" in some areas was lacking

What I hated:
- the Japanese audio track was quieter than a graveyard two-step

All in all, I wasn't expecting something that'd be deep in thought but entertain me for 1.5 hours...
time well wasted. The fact it wasn't supposed to come out till the 11th but arrived within two
days w/o a preorder I like!!

...Going to order more copies for my friends

I found it to be a good enough sequel. John Woo. What more can I say. The fight scenes were enough for me to keep watching. I agree that the story could have developed some more but oh well. It would have been interesting to see more of a love triangle. Maybe in the next one.

I liked this one a lot. Hadn't seen the original. The CGI kind of reminded me of the Final Fantasy franchise. May go back and rent the first one, although it has no Luci Christian, so that may be hard to get used to...

Rather weak if you are used to the Shirow story and graphics in the manga.
At least they found a way to reduce the black outlines.

Watch Vexille for more CGI porn.. ;)

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

It was great! I really liked it, but probably should have watched Appleseed first to refresh. Deunan's *cough* reappearance was a little on the freaky side. And maybe a little matrix rip off when at the core of the HALCON zero gravity one facility.

But I nearly fell over when Tessa's english voice actor was Hitomi *dies*

The CG was awesome? Doesn't anyone have an recommendations for any other completely CG animations like this one that might be worth watching?
