Chickenfoot (a new rock supergroup)

The first time I heard about this band was when I saw a poster for them in Best Buy. I didn't know who was in the band at the time, and I just brushed them aside as just another bad modern day rock band. But when I heard who WAS in the band, I got curious. Get this, the band members are:

Sammy Hagar
Michael Anthony
Chad Smith
and Joe Satriani

I bought their album today, and I enjoyed it for the most part. For me, the best song on it was a ballad called Learning To Fall. I don't think Chickenfoot will ever be better than Hagar's solo stuff or Van Halen, but it's still damn good.

Well, Joe Satriani, although he is one of the great guitarists, has a very tired sound. Lately I'm not impressed with his albums which are predominantly "soloing over a drum machine" with very little in terms of quality content. For me his last good album was "Flying over a blue Dream", after that there are maybe one or two tracks off of each of the later albums that makes me go "ooo, nice" and grab my attention. The majority of it gets the ol' skip button.

Sammy Ha-gar is a Sammy Has-been. Nuff said.

Mike Anthony was just hanging off of EV's music composition skill. A mediocre bassist at best.

Satch and Smith are the only 2 members who I consider accomplished members.
