Nothing tests network stability... like setting it on fire.

"Is the network still there?"

"Yeah, man, it is. What do you want me to do?"

// pregnant silence

[true troubleshooting story, BTW]

Just went to a LAN party myself recently... not to play but to provide network support. It was a nice
change of pace :-D Too bad I didn't get stats on how badly the internet pipe (DOCSIS3 100/5) and
equipment -- Cisco 1811 router + 2970 gig switches + HP rackmount servers for gamehosting -- was getting
(ab)used throughout the session.

Tall and cold again, please. Been dealing with a couple day bout of an allergic reaction to SOMETHING
that I'm not sure what it is... and I REALLY need to catch up on sleep. I am DEFINATELY not at 100%
of late...

A) the games they were playing were not my cup of tea, B) no time after work
other than to grab the configs and gear and run out the door, and C) the one
or two ppl's anime stash I did check out I either had or had already seen.

Anyways, I was there to be geek support and I wasn't registered to play.
Next one's in January next year. I'll be sure to be better prepared :D

Greetings my fair weather friends......

I figured I pop my head in as well, its too quite around here as of late. But were still alive and kicking (or just kicking, or just alive, depending on who you talk to).

It's been a rough year for me, a very rough year:

1) My Mom had a heart attack, stroke and an aneurysm simultaneously. Being of tough Eastern European stock, she managed to survive and is doing better. Unfortunately my folks are retired and my Mom does not qualify for any gov't health care (even under Obama-care). As such they owe the hospital $130,000 dollars.

2) Found out my Dad has Cancer. There is a tumor located between his kidney and bladder. The kidney no longer works. We haven't yet received and further information.

3) My wife suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage, and is just now recovering.

On top of this:

We are slowly getting ready to do a kitchen remodel.

My parents decided to visit Hungary (home) one last time. They are there now and will be for 2 more weeks.

My Dad (who flys model airplanes) ordered a new plane from a company in china but they've been delaying shipment for 3 months now. I'm the one that needs to deal with this as well.

Stressful? This is beyond stress..... It makes stress seem like sunbathing on a beach in Maui.....

But enough about Me, how about the rest of you?
