@CPOK
Were you man? :-D

Manager's giving the usual speeches, "I will pass your resume around, I will.. I will..."

Well... FINALLY got word that repair work has been scoped and sorted out... UNfortunately, I was the last to
find out as a "form" was sent out yesterday covering this... that of course I didn't get.

I thought I'd have ANOTHER rushed pack and stack job, but sounds like I'll have some time THIS time to sort
that out.

...see how this goes, I guess...

Have you ever been asked by a "Subject Matter Expert" how to do their jobs for them? That just happened to me today.

Background : got a ticket today that went "networks, so-and-so is saying port XXXX is not open. Please investigate."
One thing lead to another, which ended up in a Windows SME being brought on the call to run the netstat command
to see if the port is open. After being told what to do, said Windows SME then proceeds to ASK ME "how do I run
the netstat command?"

...I've SERIOUSLY never been as tempted as I was then to scream a long string of 4letter invective on a
conference call in a long time...

...I am currently, in the famous words of some I cribbed this from, "going on a date with Crown Royal" to blank out my brain.

hope everyone else's weekend is going well

Well technically netstat isn't a windows command :P
So if they can't solve it within 5 mouse clicks they have to escalate it I assume. :)

Waahahahahaha...

If I had a nickel for every time I had to raise an issue with a Micro$oft's so-called subject matter experts......

I swear those guys are just displaced mac users......

We are slowly exposing cloud based WCF services at my job. We had a top level azure engineer come to our office for consulting. He was showing us how to deploy software into azsure. When we configured the deployment, I noticed all the service URLs had to get hardcore host names. So I asked him: if this is a dynamic environment, why are the service locations hard configured? We don't know the host names til after the services have deployed. Isn't there dynamic discovery like the way Fuse Fabric handles dynamic discovery via a zookeeper distributed registry and multicasting?

He had no idea...... he pulled out an **Iphone** and did a **Google** search..... (Facepalm)

Bathroom work started... came home to all the stuff I'd piled in there pulled out so they could patch and paint.
I can still smell the paint fumes, but it's a start... to getting my life back here.

How was everyone's "Appreciation For Single Humans Day" yesterday?

Paid the "upgrade" fee for replacement flooring -- engineered hardwood in cherry wood.
Now just have to book a date / time, with an initial estimate of 3days work, never mind
moving my stuff out of the place so said work can be done.

I HOPE that can be done with minimal pain and enough lead time to get a moving truck
and enough friends I can bribe with pizza and booze.

I've also got a couple offers on the line for work post-end of March, one that at least
lets me stay within the company. Just sucks as everyone else is pulling stakes and
it seems upper management doesn't give a hoot at what a great team is breaking up. *sighs*

Tall and Cold, into work this weekend... I've my fingers crossed nothing blows up stupendously...

Jeez, where is everyone hiding this week?

What's new with me :
- Got some callbacks about job ops and did some interviews.

- found out flooring isn't "in stock" by the seller.

- what started as a "simple" oil change has now ballooned into a $1000 fixit job for my car...

*sighs*

Life just goes... Tall and Cold to deal with it pls.

I seem to have missed that day.

Is that hardwood more resistant to spills / floodings? ... (remember how you got in this mess in the first place)

Currently I'm stuck up to my armpits in an exchange 2003 => exchange online migration.. :skull:

So what job are they offering? ... any room for a Dutch admin that eats managers for breakfast and makes customers cry?

Explosions?

Hey Taurec, I was wondering where everyone was...

So, Canada's got gold for womens and mens hockey... YAY!

Resistant, yes. Retain... Very Much So. Basically they had to rip it up as it wasn't drying out of the
underflooring or concrete base.

I can double check again Taurec, most of what I was looking for was networking admin rather than email admin.
But hey, if you can make ID10T's cry, I'll GLADLY have you on my shoulder any day..

Wonder where Killer and CPOK are hiding...

...also saw the new Lego movie with Noir... Good luck getting this catchy little number out of you or your kids' head.
G'on...I dare ya! :-D

Rather random 4th wall breakage... with Will Ferrell (of all people), but even for us "gentlemen of mature years" its a rather amusing way to spend 2hrs
