Hey Killer, where you been hiding? 'grats on the faster internet... who's IINET? Never heard of them?

@Taurec : as I always ask for anything pertaining to that
- what's the budget?
- what's the technical skill level?
- what's the support requirements, if any?
- any other requirements? POE, anti-x, etc.

Offhand, Mikrotik (starting at ~$60USD and going up) and Ubiquiti Edgerouter Lite (~$100USD) are the cheapest I know
of offhand. Or a spare PC running a *nix router / firewall distro.

Price-wise, works its way up from there.

Tall and Cold, found one of my car's tires is COMPLETELY flat... I just don't want to deal with this... FML

Kewl :D

Incidentally, I posted new songs on my website, as well as replacing the player I was using

http://www.boomstickjoes.com/my-music/

It has been tough at my job. The people at the top are having us adopt agile methodologies. In and of itself its not a bad thing, but the "implementation' at the tooling level is completely crap. I'd explain, but it will take a few thousand words... but suffice to say, its like Telling Michelangelo that he needs to be more efficient at painting chapels, but he is denied the purchase of scaffolding and brushes.......

Oh and they had a big-wig meeting in the big conference room 30 feet away from me and they forgot to close the door. So me and about 100 other developers heard how "it is too expensive to let people go because of the severance package, so they are hoping to drive up attrition by eliminating as much money from the bonus pool they can and adjusting workloads. Expecting a 15%-20% attrition rate. clapping can be heard from the conference room....."

F*&#*kers.. We'll just have to make they're lives harder then.. }B>

You see, the folks in our company are a bunch of die hards. We've delt with investment companies (this is our 4th one in the 10 years I'm here).
What they don't understand is that people like me ( a lowly team lead) had beers with our clients. The clients know who I am, and many of the people that I work with as well. The clients ask for us by name.

That kinda puts the "big-wigs" in a awkward spot. :)

Anyway Its spring time by me. And I'll be shoveling the 8 inches of snow we're getting tomorrow morning. Just nature's way of saying "psych!!".

Thanks for that Killer, will have to check it out later. And yeah, that's a helluva s**t sandwich to be chewing on.
"Agile Methodologies," is that some buzzword someone heard from a friend of a friend that's "going to be the next
hot thing?" As for the money situation... reminds me of that old cartoon where the managers are on a ship and wondering
why they're going nowhere... while a single person is rowing.

Winter refuses to die over here, so we're in the same boat. Oh well, monday's going to be interesting for me as well --
moving sideways into a more Delivery rather than Assurance / Operations / break/fix role. Sounds like I'll be learning
to herd cats than doing anything technical.

...also hope my tire's okay. Went down one day to find it COMPLETELY flat. Filled it back up, and took it for a drive,
no obvious leaks or leak sounds, but still...

Tall And Cold, it's the weekend!

Get Your Star Wars On ... Much as I'm not an SW fan, duly impressed by this little piece. Definately some thought put into this, especially the "little" details like use of the probe droid, SD deck ops, environment / sensor masking.

..as for the female TIE bomber pilot, i'd LOVE to do bombing runs on her all night long. Seems to follow the long tradition of the Empire's females being hot but psychopathic.

Been to the first official comic con .. it was fun.
To sum up the day .. cosplayers, beers and steak. :-D

Wow that animation is great .. needs a series and not that semi lazy computer generated crap they are feeding us now.

Actually the day before I flashed my phone CM14 and realized on the con they totally fudgie up the camera software.

For aprils fool I changed the wallpapers of a couple of developers to reveal they are in fact closet bronies  (and one teletubby)

So easter was shite (sick as a dog) anyone else who would like to forget easter 2015?

I think I'm going to get me one of these http://www.jetway.com.tw/jw/Barebone_vi ... F3A-2930-B

and probably slap something on that routes <g>

And wow ... new stuff from GITS planned for 2015 ... a new movie and two new eps of Arise

yay http.sys exploit ...
Found some scanners on our IDS bleergh guess it's patch galore this weekend.

Eventually went with the Asus RT-68U it has the possibility to slap on some custom firmware simply didn't have the time to learn the mikrotik stuff.

For now it work pretty good and since it's a vertical oriented router it works very good for my setup.

There's also the power usage part in play ...

Offer's still on the table if anyone wants me to get anything from Nabashin while he's in town.

Friend and I are in Vancouver till thursday this week... I'm QUITE relaxed I have to admit.
Getting my friend to relax and stay energized has been somewhat difficult. But as I like
to say, "the whole point of the exercise is to have fun, I'M HAVING FUN!"
