Thats sad but understandable
I don't know the last time I checked in on the board but somehow this site feels like the longest lasting connection I have with my teenage days. I have the sentimental feeling that with the closing of this site my youth will finally be over (at the age of 30 ).
Is there a new place to gather? Facebook / Steam / psn? With a new fmp season probably coming sometime in 2017 it would be cool to revive the old times even when its just for a moment.
edit:
I'm actually reading the fmp manga for the first time on my phone. pretty awesome nostalgic.

If there is still interest, I don't mind hosting this on my ipage site. I don't use my website for much other than hosting my kids pics and my music for friends and family without being limited in some way.

Will pencil 3/28/2017 into my calendar then... unless something changes. Or Killer, if you are willing to
host this up. Be nice to have some place to post stuff, etc... as I sure as hell don't do Facebook, Myspace,
Google+, etc.
Definately though, fun times and fond memories of this place.
@Eisenmann
Nice to see you still around, man! Wish more ppl would drop back in and let their presence be known.
And yeah, +9000 on the nostalgia factor.
Caught Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children today, stuff I loved :
- visuals, especially how they made the 1943 timeframe come alive.
- cast in there : Eva Green, Samuel L Jackson, Judi Dench, Rupert Everrett, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp.
I seriously would love to ask Eva Green exactly what mindspace she put herself in while acting out Miss
Peregrine's role -- I suspect something along the line of a "cross between stuffy-but-proper English
schoolmistress and Mary Poppins." Allison Janney impressed me the most as I usually know her for her
comedic roles, but in this she was a pretty serious personality, and I found it suited her pretty good.
- final battle with the Hollows was a SERIOUS callback to 1980s movies like Home Alone, Problem Child and
a few others where kids could get the most inane Rube Goldberg setups to trick and trap the unsuspecting
(and dumb) adults. Can't say I've seen anything like that since the aforementioned movies, so it was a
seriously enjoyable blast to the past for me!
Stuff that was WTF for me :
- logic of the timeloops and the children aging outside the loops, especially the final bit of Jake getting
back to 1943. Working it out with the people I saw it with, finally came up with a somewhat plausible and
logical explanation of how/why it worked. Personally I'm hoping this is better explained in the novels.
- Barron & co's motivation(s). Kinda shallow, and a throwback to the "genius children, brainless adults" trope
of the above movies, and Jackson's TOTALLY playing to himself throughout the movie, but forgivable.
- character backstories being given short shrift, Victor's especially. Again, I hope and suspect the novels
flesh this out more and the circumstances of his death and reanimation.
- final scene of Jake v Jake... watch it for yourself to see what happens, but exactly how you can't tell who your ally is...
All in all, I was pretty entertained by this movie!

Caught Magnificent 7 last night... went in with no expectations, turned off my brain, and enjoyed it.
Was surprised to see the cast list : Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lee Byung-Hun...
Vincent surprised me the most as it took me 1/2 the movie to realize it was him, though I can't tell if I
was hearing things or he deliberately played his character with a high(er) octave voice range. Couple characters
I thought got short shrift in the explanation of their motivations, but personally I enjoyed the movie
more for the action / gunfights scenes more than the talking.

Saw it too with a friend as well. Amusing watching things wind its way through the Governmental Bureaucracy(TM) through the first part of the movie.
Also amazing how wooden some characters' actors could be, and still be engaging.
Also the Japanese do The Faceless American Bully(TM) trope SO WELL!!
Oh, anyone try / using Google Duo? What interests me the most is that the app is cross-phone compatible -- ie Apple, MS AND Android. If anyone's on it n willing to exchange contact details...

So tried Google Duo with two Apple iphones, works as advertised (cross platform), have to find someone with an Android to test this out some more.
Also caught Dr Strange, went largely to see Benedict C -- impressed how well he held an "American accent" throughout the movie, I didn't detect any slippages. SFX of the Runes used IMMEDIATELY made me scream "Magical Battle Arena!!" otherwise I was entertained.
Tall And Cold, please.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

Nov 11th I paid my respects with Noir at a Rememberance Day Ceremony.
Last week, want to thank our resident Americans for making it one of the quietest weeks I had, hope you all stuffed yourself silly with
turkey and plenty to be thankful for.
...and a couple weeks ago, my brother formally proposed to his girlfriend of 7years, I'm happy for em both... and the ways and means he
proposed fits his devious nature
Have to catch up on movies in the theater, The Arrival and Fantastic Beasts are on my "to watch" list.
How's everyone else doing counting down to Dec 25th?

50K foot view : he did the devious by getting a ring (without her knowing), then going out for a 2day trip to Banff
(rather than go to their favorite restaurant), then nearly getting locked out of a restaurant where they were alone
and dancing... then his girlfriend swears her mind blanks out for the next hour and a half between the time he popped
the question and they decided to let the parents on both sides of the family know.
...I'll have to remember to ask him where he got his ringbox... apparently it's a VERY discrete one, very flat and
concealable with no pocket bulge.
Good luck on the move... and yeah, it's always a rhymes-with-witch with moving and furniture. Party at your place after you move in?

Hahah, congrats to him!
So watched Fantastic Beasts and Assassin's Creed. For the former, missed the 1st 20 minutes and found the
characters alittle cliche / tropish, but overall still found the movie enjoyable. Also kept seeing Matt
Smith in the role of Newt. For the latter, two things I loved : the action, and Jeremy Irons.
Merry Christmas to all, hope everyone's spending it with family / friends and/or unwrapping presents!
