A little odd question about the dub. I haven't yet watched the japanese version of those episodes. It adds a curious twist to their already twisted relationship.

I agree
I think Gauron required someone who was his equal in order to relate to and his life was so filled with violence that there was no one he could relate to at all.
It's a pity we didn't get more of his background, I bet we would have seen he was remarkably similiar to Sosuke in history

Some of us think it was an attempt to confuse Sousuke...
But yeah Gauron could use a little more background information.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

hmmmm
yes but he was dying at the time! Rather odd time to mess with Sosuke's head
Welcome to the forums, CP.
Does Gaulun really love Sousuke...?
I think if they weren't mutual enemies, they'd get along
pretty well, and they both realize it but Sousuke denies
their "connection" and Gaulun uses this fact against him.
Perhaps he's exaggerrating that knowledge by saying "I
love you, Kashim," and flaunting it in Sousuke's face.
"Kashim" would remind him of his previous life, which he,
in general, disliked, and the "I love you" part would
remind him of the bond the two had before. I don't think
Gaulun actually means to say he loves Sousuke, and
especially not romantically, but, again, he's most likely
saying that to piss Sousuke off.
By their "connection," I mean that Gaulun and Sousuke
are actually closer to each other than Sousuke would
like. Only Gaulun and Kalinin know Sousuke's older
name, Kashim, and what his life was like before he
joined Mithril. Along the way, Gaulun and Sousuke
became enemies.
It's be extremely useful to read this if you haven't already.
It's part of the FMP novels and it finally gives a lot of
background on Gaulun and Sousuke's relationship. This
post might not be clear or make a lot of sense if you
haven't heard about how their relationship was like.
Hope I helped with answering your question.

Normally would be the best guess
Here's the original thread about the translations- since this is so important to FMP and nobody has announced any intent to commercially translate them the link is okay

The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

I think what G was trying to say is that he could relate to Kashim. He saying that he and Kashim (not Sousuke) are sorta the same kind: they'd kill without blinking an eye, human life was worth nothing to them. [edit](From novel)[edit]. But at that time, I think he was trying to mess with Sousuke's head as well as remind him that they shared a "bond"...
Just my 2 cents

I doubt Gauron would waste his and Sousuke's last seconds screwing with his head... For a typical bad-guy like him, the final words are meant to be poignant.
I really do think that Gauron loved Kashim, in his own way. Not parental, nor romantic, or anything that could be put under a label.
Throughout the series, he showed himself as a real bad-ass. In like every scene with him and his "associates" he shoots one person or other. He dismisses everyone as little cockroaches, I would say. But he really seems to identify with Sousuke. He does have some sort of emotion for him, quite different from his blase manner with others. Kashim is probably the only person he's genuinly looked on as an equal and fellow human--this is the closest Gauron knows to "love".
Did what I say make any sense? It sounds good in my head...
